What area are you in? If the Lewisville area is close to you - there is a great Christian guy named Tony that teaches at Texas Karate. My sister, brother in law, nephews and one of my aunts go to him.

Hi N.!! My church has a christian based Tae Kwon do class. Here is the link:
http://www.firsteuless.com/kids/kids/other-activities/sports

I would talk to Richard. His # is below. Also if you are interested:
Have you ever wanted to take a Martial Arts class, but don't like the idea of a contact sport?
Does Christian music make you want to move, but you feel guilty, 'cuz "Baptists don't dance!"?
Would you like to get a little more exercise in your life, but have no more room in your budget?

THEN, HAVE I GOT AN OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU!

KardioTKD

The Christian Martial Arts Academy of First Baptist Church Euless is beginning a 10 week Kardio TaeKwonDo class on Monday, March 10th from 7:45 to 8:30pm. CMA meets in room 190 of Campus West (Northwest corner of 183 and 157), on the far North end under the Christian Counseling Center. There is no cost for this class, except for the sweat you will be leaving behind, so feel free to invite anyone you would like to join us. This is a brand new class with music from Newsboys, Audio Adrenaline, Superchick and other Christian artists. Be sure to bring water and a towel, and wear whatever is comfortable. We will begin slow as we learn the routine, and pick it up as we progress thru, but be sure to take breaks as you need them. Each session will open and close in prayer as all CMA classes do. The techniques come right out of our regular Taekwondo curriculum, so anyone wanting to do both will feel right at home. The Taekwondo class starts at 6:30-7:30, with the Kardio class following at 7:45-8:30.

Any questions? Call Richard Garner at ###-###-#### or email at ____@____.com.

I hope this helps!

The Meadowbrook United Methodist Church in Fort Worth is sponsoring Martial Arts classes. The cost is $12 for the first family member, $10 for the second, $8 for the third, and so on. The classes are open to adults and children alike. There is belt advancement. The certification is for both Tae Kwon Do and Karate and is recognized worldwide. The instructors are Christian and there is a focus on God and Christianity at every class. For more information you can go to the church website at www.mbrookumc.org.
Hope this helps.

There is a great karate program that our whole family is involved in called Christian Soldiers. It is a free class and held at area churches. You can go to their website: www.christiansoldierskarate.org and click on the class locations to find one in your area. The program was started by J. Pat Burleson about 11 years ago and it has been a real blessing for our entire family. They teach American Karate and do have belt advancements. The best part about it is the character building that they teach. Each class has a Bible devotional at the end plus there is a Bible study to complete for each belt level along with Bible verses to memorize. If you have any more questions, feel free to email me.

Hi N.,
Legends Martial Arts is a wonderful program. It was also started by J. Pat Burleson (someone else mentioned him, too) and the style is called American Karate. There are multiple dojos across Tarrant County and many classes to choose from. We have been involved for almost 3 years now and wouldn't go anywhere else! Both Grand Master Burleson and his son Master Chance Burleson are Christians. They lead the whole group in prayer before the start of their tournaments which is a great witness because there are many different schools that come to their tournaments. Oh- and your first class is free!!

Try the Arlington School of Self Defense on Park Row. My daughter (who started going at age 5) went there for a about a year and a half and loved it. She quit going because she wanted to try playing soccer. If she ever decides to quit soccer and go back to Karate, we will go back to Arlington School of Self Defense. We tried several different karate schools and I let my daughter pick the one she felt most comfortable going to. She picked this one and we have never regreted her decision. The instructor owns the school and is a Christian. He reads a bible verse at the end of the class and tells a story that relates to it. He and his staff are great with the kids. They have fun in addition to learning karate. My daughter really enjoyed going there and always looked forward to her karate nights. Anytime I hear of someone looking for a karate school, I refer this one. You just have to go to see for yourself.

Dear N.,

I have known Pat for 20 plus years. He is outstanding in this field. Even before I was a Christian myself, I knew that there was something different about Pat.

Just for an example, one of the first things that I say, when we would be at tournaments, and others would be talking trash about other schools, and or individuals, (all too common, I'm sorry to say) he would have nothing to do with it, and would even walk away, and distance himself from those adult instructors that wouldn't be setting a proper example for their students.

This was before he had his own studio. I don't know how far you are from Saginaw, (NW Tarrant Co) if he is too far from you to use his school. If I were you I would speak to him and seek a referral.
