It just occurred to me to ask you guys...does anyone know of a local homeschool group that I can join? My son is 4 years old and we have been homeschooling since birth and plan to continue through high school. I'd love to become a part of a group for support and children's activities. So far, my son's friends are either public schooled or their parents are planning to send them to public school. I want him to have some friends who are being homeschooled as well, so he will have someone to better relate to. Also, my son is an only child and I want to be sure that he has plenty of opportunity to make friends, as I have learned that they will be an especially important part of his life as he gets older. Thanks for any ideas!

What can I do next?

We love HIS ministries, a Christian classical homeschool group based/following The Well Trained Mind format for Bible, History and Science. There are 2 groups, Federal Way and Des Moines. In fact Tuesday at 7:00 we are having an informational meeting at the FW Reg. lib on 1rst Ave.
I know of others who love PATH co-op and ACTS co-op. Both of these offer a variety of classes. All of these meeet 1 x /week. I'm sure that there are more out there, WHO, WATCH and HSA are great resources. most will require your oldest to be at least 5, if not 6 to start, but it is great to get to know these now so you can plan, and even start getting to know the families to build relationships w/them and have those play dates.
Let me know if I can help you more.

My kids and I attend ACTS Homeschool Group in Puyallup. Your oldest child has to be six years old at the start of the semester in order to attend the weekly classes, but you might be able to join as a Limited Member. This would allow you to participate in all of the field trips, parties, moms-night-outs, etc. More information can be found at their website, www.actshomeschool.com.
Hope this helps!

The Pierce County Homeschool Association is a great place to start. You can find them at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HSA-Pierce/ You might also find local groups at the Washington Homeschool Organization, at http://www.washhomeschool.org/ Both are secular organizations. I'm not involved with any sectarian orgaizations, but I know there are quite a few local to you. There is also a great homeschool group at Meetup.com for the Puyallup/Sumner area. I have a 4 year old daughter and 2 year old son that we are homeschooling. :)
