I have 2 The first one I have made several times. It is great. Stays soft and does not crumble like the store bought kind. It also make a bigger batch so there is plenty to roll out and play with. The second recipe I have not made yet. My aunt just sent it to me. Have fun! My daughter (22 months) plays with playdough everyday!!

Homemade Playdough Recipe

1 cup flour
½ cup salt
2 tsp. cream of tartar

Combine above ingredients in a nonstick sauce pan (reg pan is fine too).

In a measuring cup combine
1 cup water
2 Tbls. Oil
6 drops (or more) of food coloring

Cook over medium heat. Stir almost constantly. It will be lumpy. As it cooks the bottom will start to dry out and look like play dough. Keep stirring it until a ball forms and it looks like play dough. I then smash the ball into a pancake and cook for 1 min on each side. This helps it to dry out a little. Then place the dough on a piece of foil or wax paper to cool. Let cool for a few minutes. Then knead the dough if it is not already smooth. Store in an airtight container and enjoy with your children!!

Kool-aid Playdough

1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
2-3 T. cooking oil
1 package of Kool-aid
sprinkle of Cream of Tartar
1 cup very hot or boiling water

Mix all dry ingredients and oil. Add water a little at a time as mixture may not need all of the liquid. Knead like bread dough to make it elastic and like soft clay. Store covered.

Here's one I plan on making with my Girl Scouts this week. I've tried a few things out of this booklet and everything else has turned out well.

Fruity Play Dough

2 1/4 cup flour
4 Tb cooking oil
2 Tb unsweetened drink mix (koolaid type)
1 C salt
1 C water

1. Combine flour, salt, and powdered drink mix in a large bowl.
2. Stir in cooking oil and water
3. Continue stirring until mixture is the consistency of bread dough.
4. Remove dough from bowl and knead on a floured service 2-3 minutes until firm.
5. Store leftover fruity play dough in an airtight container or plastic bag.

Hope you like it! It's supposed to smell really good, like whichever koolaid (etc.) mix you use. Plus should be easier to make than others I've had since there's no cooking involved. :)

I looked over the other recipes posted to see if mine was the same - it was similar but not exact. I've been using the same recipe for 12 years, and I love it. It keeps for a long time in ziplock baggies - for about 3-4 months, then the salt in the mixture starts to rise to the surface and it changes it's texture. That's when I make a new batch, and the kids are happy because they get to choose new colors :)

Play-dough
----------

2 cups flour
1/2 cup salt
2 Tbsp oil
1 Tbsp cream of tartar
1 3/4 c boiling water
food coloring

In a medium bowl, combine flour, salt, & cream of tartar.
Mix well. Stir in boiling water & oil. Mix it around a bit,
and then let cool for 10 minutes. Place dough on counter top
and knead until smooth. Divide it as you wish and add food
coloring if desired. I use rubber gloves to knead the food
coloring through :) Store in ziplock freezer bags.

Hi M.,
I got this recipe years ago and it's great. Doesn't stick to anything including carpets. If it does get on anything just let it dry and it comes off. And if they eat it it won't hurt them. You will love this. Hang on to it you will pass this down for years to come.
