Looking for a Great Vacation Rental in Kauai, HI

Hello,
Planning next summer's vacation and we'll be going to Kauai. Husband and I have been there twice, pre-child, and we stayed on the north shore (Hanalei/Haena/Princeville area, which we LOVED). Visited the Poipu area and liked the North shore better; more lush and jungle-y.

Can you recommend a 2 bedroom rental that is really clean? I'm over the bare bones type of trip and I know a lot of rentals in HI are such. I want to feel comfortable cooking in a newer kitchen and not get the eeby-jeebies about sleeping in an old bed. Know what I mean? Taking our daughter this time around and she'll be 6 at the time of the trip. (We're planning early so we can book airfare using our miles)

Any suggestions would be great, including hotels (although we'd like to not break the bank; so can't really do luxury)...

Thanks!!

What can I do next?

LOVE LOVE LOVE the North Shore of Kauai! I found some great-looking rentals on VRBO for the North Shore. Go to VRBO.com. The ones I was looking at were close to the Princeville resort and right on the water. They looked really nice, clean, newer and were about $1500 a week, which I consider pretty good for Hawaii and decent! I've found great rentals all over the place there. The last time we went, we stayed in a great place about a mile up a dirt road near the Wainiha store. I can try to find the name of it, but it was several years ago. It was nice, but no great kitchen. It DID have an amazing roof top tub with a river running by it, and you could hear the waves crashing down at the beach. Email me if you want me to look for it.

Wherever you stay, consider taking the rode all the way past Poipu to the west side of the island. Visit Polihale beach!! It is a hidden beach at the end of the road, you actually go offroading for a few miles (so do it during the day). It is a beautiful beach with the furthest west sunset of the US.

We are going to Kauai and staying on the North Shore (Princville area) for the first time two weeks from now. I will respond again to your question once I get back and let you know how The Cliffs were. We are Disney Vacation Club members so we did not get to choose our spot, you either accept the exchange or not.

If you have any 'must do's' could you private message me and let me know? We have three kids 10, 7, and 1.

Hi, I don't know if you already got a place, but you haven't please message me. We own property a timeshare there and would love to rent it to you. It is a five star resort, with kitchen, and ocean view. Let me know, we rent some of our rooms for as low as 100$ a night.
