Looking for a Great Place for a Birthday Party for a Two Year Old
It's that time again to plan another birthday party and I'd like to steer clear of my very compact home. Does anyone have any recommendations for a place in Mandarin or Southside areas that would offer play area for the kids, but also covered/air conditioned area for adults? Birthday is in heat of summer - end of May. I looked at Jax Zoo, but they don't allow parties until age 3. Will be a mix of kids from ages 1-4. Want to try to find place where adults, quite a few without kids, will enjoy themselves as well. Thanks so much for your suggestions!

Well, let's see, having a three-year old (soon to be four), we have had several parties. I do agree with Ollie Koalas (Mandarin or the beaches one), we've had parties at local parks (Kingsley Ave - Clark Park in OP) and the zoo. This year we are having ours at Diamond D Ranch way out Normandy Blvd. It is pricey, but an open farm to feed cows, go on hayrides, have a hay fight, bounce house, picnic tables and petting zoo are all included in your price for a 3-hour block. Field trips go there all the time. Check it out.

Try Mandarin Park or Burnett Park. I have been to birthday parties at both and the kids have a great time. They both have a covered pinic area and a playgroud. Burnett Park does have indoor play areas and I know
Burnett Park can be rented by calling them in advance and letting them know the time and date.

Since all the other ideas are taken, here is what I can think of that has not been mentioned:
- Pump it Up (off Beach just 2 blocks east of 9A)
- Fire Station Tour and then cake cutting at the local park.

Not sure about the age range (don't think it would be an issue) but Tunnelz and Tumblez is a great place - giant indoor play area, plus private room for cake and pizza. Only concern would be that it does get crowded, might be a little much for 2 year olds. Or what about Gymboree at The Avenues Mall? My 3 year old went to a party there and loved it! Also, Ollie Koalas's, in Mandarin as well.
Anyway, just a few ideas - good luck!

There is a wonderful new park off of Baymeadows just past 9A. It's the Regional 9A/ Baymeadows Park. The playground is fenced in away from the water. There are SEVERAL covered pavillions. And the equipment is smaller for little ones. My sons playgroup (a bunch of 2 year olds) frequent this park alot!

Ollie Koala's in Mandarin at San Jose & Loretto. Tunnels and Tumbles near the Avenues Mall.
