Ladies, I need your help. My family and I are new to Texas and we need a GREAT pediatrician. I say GREAT because we have ran into some doctors in the past that let things go on my kids and created a much bigger problem in the long run.

For example, my son had tubes put into his ears when he was 13 months old. The ENT never told us to follow up with him (but that is a whole other complaint I have about Dr.s) but his primary care doctor wouldn't refer me to an ENT anyways. I would take my son in for a suspected ear infection and he would just say, "Well, I can't see anything since there is so much wax" Then try to get the wax out by putting some long metal thing to scrap it out. Which any ENT dr would tell you that is a big NO NO. Then say "Well I think he has an ear infection; here's some antibiotics" I didn't know any better at the time, he's the dr. So I went with it. There was also a time that Jayden had dried blood in his ear and I called the dr office pleading for them just to give me a referral to and ENT and they DENIED me. Ofcourse I get in there and he does the same thing! Finally I went to a different dr for a whole other reason and she suggested to take him to an ENT. That ENT told me that my 3 YR OLD's ears looked as bad a 10 yr old that hadn't been cared for. Now my son is going through speech therapy to get up to speed with children his age since he wasn't able to hear for about 2 years of his life.

So, bottom line. I need a dr that you have known to bend over backward for the care of your children, is attentive, and remembers you from visit to visit or anything else you have just found to be extraordinary about them. I would love Name and Phone numbers, address too if it's handy. Thank you so much. I live in Spring and am really close to the Woodlands but I will travel if its a GREAT DR.

What can I do next?

I "second" the response about Dr. Leass - he's great. He remembers my kids, he takes time to sit down and talk to us, he jokes and plays with the kids and even gives tips on things not "medical" related - like, "Now it's time for little Johnny to start helping unload the dishwasher. This is how you model it for him so he'll learn..." stuff like that. We love him and his staff! Good luck finding a doctor that you're comfortable with.

I have a child with heart issues and so I was looking for a good pediatrician too. We moved here in December. I would suggest looking for a Texas Children's Pediatrician Office. We go to Conroe Pediatrics which is a Texas Children's Pediatric Office. We see Kelly Williams and have seen one other doctor and have been very happy with both. I don't know that you want to drive to Conroe. You can go to the Texas Children's Hospital website and I believe it will tell you where they have offices in outlying cities. I hope this helps.

Hometown Pediatrics in the Woodlands has a great team of doctors. We personally go to see Dr. Kristie Chandler, but the times she's been unavailable and we have a very sick child, we've also seen Dr. Mona Smith and Dr. Tony Johns. They are all good listeners and take the time to answer questions and calm concerns. Ditto for the nursing staff.
The address is 1595 Lake Front Circle and the telephone number is ###-###-####.
Good luck.

Dr. Laurie McKillip (Physician’s Group of the Woodlands
1011 Medical Plaza Blvd., Suite 100, The Woodlands TX 77380 ###-###-####) - located in the building next to Memorial Hermann Hospital. She is amazing as well as her staff (PA, and 2 nurses as well as a male doctor for those boys who want to see a boy doctor) - they all know my kids names and everyone remembers us every time we come in - very much like a family atmosphere. I will never forget when my first child had colic and at 3 months I was completely exhausted and just broke down in tears in the exam room - they took the time out to counsel me!! They were wonderful and caring and they know all of their patients personally - so you are not just a number to them. I call alot and they always return my calls in a timely manner - truly exceptional service which is hard to find in a doctors office these days...

Welcome to Texas! You've received some good referrals already. Closer to home I recommend the doctors at Fm 1960 Pediatric. They are affiliated with Texas Children's Hospital and they have a location near you at FM 1960 and I45. There are several doctors there I recommend, Dr. Broxton, Dr. Moye and Dr. Siddiqui. There is a new dr. I am not familiar with but trust their judgment in hiring good doctors.

Hello A.! My son is 14 months and I absoultely love his pediatrician. His name is Dr. Donald Leass. He's located near 1960 & 45. He is a great doctor and avoid medicating your child unless absolutely necessary. Which I think is awesome! He is a neonatologist as well and was listed as one of the top doctors in 07'! Another plus is that you can get in to see him almost immediately and his staff is awesome! Typically I can get my son in to see Dr. Leass the same day I call. His office number is ###-###-####. Also he is in the Woodlands a couple days a week as well! Good Luck!

Dr. Amish Bhakta at Woodlands Pediatric Assoc. I would not trust my kiddos with any other doc. My daughter has a VERY rare metabolic disorder and the lengths he went for us when she got diagnosed is unreal. He calls us at home to check on our kids in the evening....if that tells you anything. He is a Texas children's doc and they have been Texas top doc 2 yrs in a row now. He has also managed to get us into the best cardiologists, ENT's and Metabolic Specialists even though they were not taking patients. HE really tries and wants you to receive the best care available even if it is not available he makes it happen. Anytime I go to a local doctor around here and they ask me who our pedi is both the doctors and nurses will say "awww Dr. Bhakta Don't you love him...we love him he is wonderful"! My husband works in health care at a local hospital and this is who was recommended to him.

###-###-#### Good luck! We have also seen Dr. Flanagan in the practice and LOVED him too....very funny guy!

This may be a bit of a drive for you, but Dr. Paul Herman at Steeplechase Pediatrics is phenomenal!!! My son was born 10 weeks early and we interviewed a number of pediatricians before we chose him. We knew that there was a good possibility that our son would have neurofibromatosis and told him that in the interview. He already had a doctor that he told us he would refer us to if necessary which it turns out he did. My son has done amazingly well during this scary first year. Dr. Herman also talks to our son every time he sees him. Our friend uses him too and she has teenagers and with her, ever since her kids have been able to talk he has talked to them to ask them what is wrong or what is going on and then talks to the mom. What I mean is that he makes sure the kids feel involved in their care. I can not say enough GREAT things about this man. There is no other doctor that I would have treating my son. They have a website too: www.steeplechasepedi.com. I hope this helps!

God Bless,
S.
