Looking for a Great Obgyn in Salt Lake Area

I need recommendations for an obgyn in Salt Lake City. We just moved here and are trying to get pregnant with our second. I need an obgyn who will let me try a VBAC, doesn't treat me like a child, and has a great nursing staff. Any suggestions for good hospitals in the area, too?

What can I do next?

My 1st two were vaginal, 3rd a C, and the 4th a sucessful INDUCED VBAC.

Whay I have found is that before you go "doctor shopping," go "hospital shopping," when it comes to a VBAC. Most hospitals, due to insurance, will not permit VBACS. You need to ask this upfront.

I found St Marks delivers VBACs. And from the staff, I got a wonderful referral to a great office, Milcreek Women's Center. Dr. Stephen Lamb, who performed my VBAC, has had YEARS of experience with VBACs! He absolutely (for the first time I ever had this with an ON/GYN) gave full support for my decisions and feelings. He is a great man. He is an accomplished LDS author (I'm not LDS, if that matters any) and a family man.

I would recommend Stephen Lamb whole-heatedly! St Marks was great, as well, with delivery. Very accomodating to my needs and desires.

Good luck!

Hi L.,
My ob/gyn is awesome!!! He is very kind and gentle and is not surgery happy at all!!!
His nurse is very sweet and understanding too.
His name is Stephen Lash and his number is ###-###-####. He is located right across from Salt Lake Reginal Hospital on 100 South, which by the way, is an awesome hospital! I had two of my three children there!!
Hope that helps!
Good Luck
N.

I loved my OB/GYN who delivered my first child, her name is Kimberly Moreland at South Valley Women's Center at Jordan Valley Hospital in West Jordan. I never saw anyone there (nurses, medical assistants, etc) that I didn't like. I also liked delivering at the hospital because they have LDRP rooms.
Unfortunately, I had to change doctors when I had my second child because of our insurance company.

Welcome to SLC!

I don't know what area in Salt Lake you are looking for but, Dr. Hamer Reiser is a fabulous ob/gyn. He is pretty open to let his patient's do what they want. Umm, he primarily practices out of LDS Hospital and Salt Lake Regional Medical Center. I do know that he deals with infertility problems and also with high risk pregnancies. I have a friend that went to him and delivered both of her children. The first baby was a preemie and the second was full term. She absolutely loves him. He was my ob/gyn while I was pregnant with my son as well. He is in the phone book, I haven't been to him in a while but, he did come very highly recommended and is a fairly well known ob/gyn in the medical community. My OBGYN, Dr. Rappleye, is absolutely wonderful. I've only had the one so I can't really compare him to someone else, but I really like him. He gives his opinion and advice, but he is not forceful or persuasive - he lets you decide. I believe he is LDS and I like all of the nurses and assistants. I don't know what a VBAC is, but you could always call his nurse and find out what his stance is on that. He accepts both Altius and IHC plans and he delivers at both Cottonwood Hospital and St. Marks Hospital. He is at Old Farm Obstetrics on 7th east about 3900 south. His number is ###-###-####. Good luck!
