Looking for a Great OBGYN in Reno
I have been in Reno only about 1 1/2 years, and I haven't really found an OB that I love. I want to get pregnant soon, so I'm really looking. I am more comfortable with a doctor than a midwife probably, but I would kind of like to try to have a natural childbirth this time. So I want to find someone who would be supportive of that at least. But I also need someone smart since I have had some minor pregnancy complications, major fertility complications, and one pregnancy loss at 5 months. Any suggestions?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE my OB! I had a really complicated first pregnancy and my second seems to be heading that way! She is so compasionate, sweet and caring. You would think it was her baby! She really truely is a comfort and I had my son natural! No problem! She was also very comforting with my miscarriages and her nurses or herself ALWAYS call me back with answers to my silliest questions! Her name is Dr. Najima and she is with Sierra Womens Health right by the hospital. I absolutely guarentee you will love her! Also, I think the childbirth classes at washoe with LESLIE really helped with the confidence to do a natural childbirth. She was wonderful too! So wonderful that after I was put on bedrest my hubby still went to the classes cause he felt comfortable and loved her too! If you prefer a male OBGYN there is a man in Dr. Najima's office that was great too, Dr. Farringer. Also I have heard great things about Dr. Schoemaker, but I really recomend Dr. Najima!

I moved her to Reno from San Diego 2 yrs ago and had to find an OBGYN too...it's a pain! Most of the ones I found would do OB but not pregnancy. I finally found Dr. Peter Dekay. He's recently moved his office to over by St.Mary's Hospital and joined a group. (He was independant when I went to him) He's a really nice guy, and delivers at both Renown and St. Mary's. If you want his info let me know and I will give you his number and address. If you'd rather have a female, I believe he shares an office with one, but he just relocated at the new year so I haven't met her. Let me know! Good luck!

Well, I had my first baby at Washoe or REnown Health two years ago. I had a great doctor, Dr. Chotiner, he is not very personable, but he knows his stuff and he is also a fertility specialist. He's very well known in the medical field in Reno, I am REgistered Medical Assistant and have worked in Reno for 9 years before I moved to Carson City. All the physicians I have worked for thinks he's a very intelligent and knowledgable doctor. I thought he was great and if I wasn't in Carson now, i'd go and see him again. His staff was always very pleasant and helpful as well, and all the girls there got to know me and always knew my name when i went in and always knew my hubby's name and when my son was born I was sent cards and they had already known his name when we went for our checkup, and they would hold him while i was being looked at and play with him so I could talk with the doctor. His office is beautiful and warm and inviting. And he was at the hospital on Fourth of July weekend, all weekend with me when I had to deliver emergency c-section on Fourth of July. i love my new doctor here in Carson even more so than Dr. chotiner, his name is Dr. Chacon, and I love him. I just found out i'm having twins and couldn't have chosen him any better here in carson. Good luck to you!!!!
