Looking for a Great Massage Therapist or Likewise in Des Moines or Surrounding

For Christmas this year I am thinking about getting a gift certificate to a massage therapist (or spa type of thing?) for my husband. He is a full time med student and is active in judo, so there's lots of stress and bumps and bruises for him... not to mention dislocated shoulders here and there etc. So, needless to say I'm not looking for just a nice relaxing back rub, but someone who can really get down to the nitty gritty deep tissue. At the bath house in Turkey, (the best experience ever) the masseuse was a male. he was really strong and definitely knew what he was doing. The whole atmosphere of the bath house was really fascinating too, but I doubt we have anything similar here. oh and price is an issue. so... if you've had any good experiences that weren't outrageously expensive, let me know!

What can I do next?

My husband is an amateur athlete and gets massages to help his performance. He goes to Massage Heights in WDM right by Prairie Life (50th and Mills Civic?) There is a guy there that he says is the best EVER. He'll go on about it for days after. I don't know the masseur's name, but he is who was recommended to my husband when he asked about deep-tissue massage for sports. I'm sure if you call they'll know who it is. And if not you can message me and I'll find out from my husband.

Oh, and I think they're about $50 for an hour massage. They have a membership option as well.

Hi B.,

My name is S. M. Kerby, DDS and I have to see a massage therapist every 2 weeks to keep me out of neck pain. I go to Jennifer at Bella Salon in Johnston which is near Texas Roadhouse on 86th street of I-80. She is very busy but the best I have ever found and I've been getting massages for 5 years now. The fee is 1 dollar per minute, i.e. 60 dollars for an hour, 90 dollars for 90 mins, etc. Hope this helps!! Mention my name and request her or they might try and give you someone else, I send everyone who asks there and have had nothing but praise for her therapy! Let me know how it goes!!

Call Stickel Chiropractic on Ingersoll and ask for Rhonda, she does an excellent DEEP massage. I always hate going to a new place b/c I end up getting "petted" half of the time. I want to feel the massage...she does a GREAT JOB! (Tell her N. sent you!) :)

Leslie owns The Magic Touch and I believe she now has her office in her home. She does a GREAT deep tissue and uses pressure points to help relax the muscles.
I haven't been in a couple years, but am working on re-budgeting so I can fit some sessions in with her!
