Looking for a Good Winter Activity for My 2 Year Old Daughter

Hi everyone, I am looking for any good or bad feedback on an in door winter activity for a 2 1/2 year old girl. I was thinking gymnastics or a dance program in the Savage Burnsville area.

What can I do next?

Hi there, we have a mommy and me program starting after the holidays. We are located in Apple Valley. Just off of 42 and Cedar. We also offer another fun class called Fantasy Footloose. This incorporates dance, song, acting, puppeting, and more.

Hi R.-

Indoor activities were a challenge for me with my son when we first moved here from Arizona a couple of years ago and my son was your daughter's age...We ended up choosing a 'Moving and Grooving' class once a week at our local park recreation center, which we went to once a week. It was inexpensive, close to home, and my son loved it. A bonus was that we met a lot of neighborhood kids who are now his good friends.

Other activities we found were preschooler storytime at the local branch library once a week and Musical Make Believe classes at MacPhail downtown, also once a week. Both are wonderful- storytime's free and MacPhail can be a little pricey.

This year we're going to be doing swimming lessons at Foss. It comes highly recommended by everyone we've spoken with- another slightly more pricey item, but it'll be a good chance to get out of the cold and by the time it's warm out again, hopefully our son will be a champion swimmer. : )

Hope some of these ideas are helpful!

I too live on the border of Savage/Burnsville

When my daughter was in preschool,3-5yrs. we did tumbling and swim lessons through the ymca in the winter and then in the spring we did teeball.

Each ymca has different classes though so you'd have to check with different locations. I think the y in Eagan had tumbling for that age bracket. We went to the y in Burnsville. You don't have to be a member either it's slightly more exspensive but not alot.

Otherwise the school district 191 has some classes in their catalog they send out every few months. The have ecfe, dance, tumbling that sort of thing.

You may have a hard time finding something for that age, but there should be something or a mommy/me class. Once your daughter is 3 or 4 years old there is alot more options.

Pump it Up (Burnsville) it's indoor inflatbales kids can jump and climb in and bounce around they usually do birthday parties but during the week when everyone is in school and at work they do let little kids come with a parent and just play for a few hours. It's pretty cheap too. I never did it, always wanted to though. We've done the birthday parties there and it's so much fun and will really burn the energy out of your kids. I even had a blast.

Check out www.priorlakesavagece.com,its for the community education classes. it has different activites for young and old!!! Maybe something there you would like!!! I didn't see alot of classes for that age group as my girls are almost two and I am looking too, seems they are at a tough age for activies, when they turn 3 it seems there is more to do. There was a parent/child gym time for ages 2 1/2 -5. 5 sessions for $44. Good luck!!
