Looking for a Good Open Minded Pediatrician

Dr. Steven Lynch with Willowcreek pediatrics (in Murray) I'm not sure if they accept your insurance but we love him. I wasn't comfortable with the vaccine schedule so we are taking a slower pace. Great doctor. Very thourough and listens. He took great care of my premie twins. Good luck!

We see Louis Borgnicht, ###-###-####. He's fabulous. We have chosen not to immunize altogether and he has been respectful of our decision.

Our ped is Dr. Durham out of the Bryner Clinic on 1st South & about 6th East in SLC. He's open minded & we have Selecthealth.

FABULOUS- Dr Charles Ralston or Dr David Hurley at the old cottonwood hospital's medical building.(cottonwood peds is the group name) They accept IHC insurance as well as BCBS, which we just switched to last year. Dr Ralston is also up at the U. He only practices part time at the cottonwood peds but dr hurley was our prev ped before we switched everything up to the U to dr ralston- because my husband works there. Dr hurley is there full time and its a great office with a big fish tank and friendly rooms(a bit small, but they are fast normally) they have evening appts and were great after hours. We love dr Ralston and because of everything surrounding our daughters birth(she's 8weeks now and was in the nicu at first) he was totally fine with us declining hep b and starting everything else later. He's great and our two and half year old calls him "grandpa ralston" He takes the time to address the two year old when he walks in before us, so she feels important and also takes into account the social and mental part of parenting, not just the medical issues. He's been spectacular and I cant rave enough. He draws our two yr old "elmo sticks"- a tongue depressor with his hand drawn version of elmo on it. Last time she got big bird, grover, elmo and cookie! Check him out!

If you live in the Salt Lake Valley which I do, I use Peter Lindgren at the Memorial Clinic. He is just what I need. My kids have felt very comfortable with him. Hope you find what you need. P.

We see Dr. Stampfl at Willowcreek Pediatrics in Draper. We are doing a delayed vaccine schedule and he is fine with that. He hasn't tried to convince us otherwise. And he has great bedside manor with our kids.

We love Dr. Shelly Ring at Willowcreek Pediatrics. She is always willing to talk and listen and the kids love her.

I love Dr. Jennifer Cox. She was previously with City Creek Pediatrics, but the name of the practice is different now. She does rounds and LDS and SL Regional and so I believe she accepts IHC insurance (as well as many others). Dr. Cox is quite open minded, is a lactation consultant as well as an excellent doctor. And, she performed the circumcision for both of my boys in her office when they were just a few days old (check with your insurance to see if they still cover circumsision! some don't). She even let me be present for the procedure both times. She listens well and her belief is that you should trust mother's instincts!

I don't know how he'd feel about the vaccine thing, as I've never asked him this...

But I recommend our pediatrician to everyone I know. My son sees Dr. Michael Johnson from Families First Pediatrics in South Jordan. He is wonderful! He is great with kids, and with parents. He's always made me feel like a partner and listened well to my concerns, even at 2 in the morning.

Dr. Johnson's office is friendly and looks welcoming for the kids, with colorful painting on all the walls. He's always given good advice on challenging issues, and his suggestions have been right on.

When my son was only 3 days old he developed meningitis and had to spend a few weeks at Primary Children's Hospital. Talk about terrifying experiences! Dr. Johnson was helpful, comforting, supportive, and such a competent expert. When I saw how he handled that situation I knew I'd made the right decision in a doctor. The last 4+ years have confirmed my choice-he's kind, experienced, professional, and my son really likes him.

I can always get in right away when my son is sick. And the other docs in his office are great too. I especially like his partner Matthew "Toby" Cox, MD. Anyway, I'd definitely check out Families First Pediatrics.

We love our pediatrician. He has always been very open and upfront with us. When our son was born he had (what I consider to be) pretty severe acid reflux. It took us a few tries to find someone who would listen to my repeated responses of "no, this is more than just a spitty baby" and who didn't treat me like a "new" mommy.

Anyway, both of my children adore him (the new one arrived this past January) and the staff is fabulous if you ever want to call them with questions (even in the middle of the night we've spoken with one of the doctors). According to their website (http://www.wasatchpeds.net/physician.html) they accept SelectHealth. We're working with Dr. Kevin Lash and iirc he specializes in developmental delays and special needs children (so he has to be flexible in his treatments).

If you are in the Sandy area, or nearby, I'd definitely recommend the doctors at Mountain View. Their number is ###-###-####. My son's pediatrician is Dr. Kim Gehle and she's absolutely wonderful. My son was born 7 and a half weeks early and so I didn't have time to sort through pediatricians. She was one of the doctors there that took Select Health Medicaid and also accepted new patients, so that's why I went with her. I was really impressed by her because she did everything possible to get my son free RSV shots when he was born, since it was so important for a newborn to be protected. She really paid a lot of attention to him and responds to our questions with a lot of care. I'm sure everyone loves their pediatricians, but good luck with your search. I understand what you're saying about an open minded one. Good luck!!

I have been using the same pediatrician for 19 1/2 years! He is FABULOUS!!! His name is Alan Rob Lindsay and he does accept IHC, as far as I know. His number is ###-###-#### at the Intermound Pediatric Clinic. He is downtown, but well worth the drive! His office is on 500 East and South Temple.

Everytime that I have been at Primary Children's for any reason and they ask who my pediatrician is and I tell them...everyone raves about how fantastic he is! He looks like a left over hippie from the 60's...wire rim glasses, long hair, wears tennis shoes and cords...but he is the best doctor I have ever dealt with! He will keep your kids until they are through college!
