Hi K., Congratulations!! What an amazing surprise. My OB is AMAZING. Her name is Siobbhan Dunnavant and her office number is ###-###-####. She is based at HDH on Forest. I've also heard great things about the doctor's at VA Women's Center at St Mary's and a very good friend of mine loves Christine Isaacs. I'm not sure where her office is, but my friend has delivered twice at MCV.

Good luck!!

I had a great experience with Virginia Physicians for Women.

I have 3 kids. My first was born in CA and I had a really horrible experience with my OB/GYN there. I was 20yrs old and unexpectedly pregnant and he was AWFUL. So...jump to 5yrs later and my husband and I are expecting our second child and we were living back in Richmond (Chesterfield). Dumb luck had me choose Dr. Reutinger with Virginia Physicians for Women. I have never never never met a nicer man who will take the time to sit with you and answer any questions you have. He's delivered my last 2 children and I am so thankful for him. I had complications with my 3rd and he was fantastic with me. He remembers everything! The whole practice is great and each doctor has a different personality so you can pick who suits you. I highly recommend Dr. Reutinger (David) though. =) Good luck and congratulations. His practice is on the southside (midlothian Tnpk) with Johnston Willis Hospital.

VA Women's Center. I see Dr. Monica Powers over at Memorial Regional (Mechanicsville) but they have offices at Henrico Doctors and possibly some other places. I have literally seen every Dr. in the MR office and they are AWESOME! They also have one of the best perinatologists in the state (Dr. Love - great guy, funny and SMART!) which you may want to see once or twice due to your age. ###-###-####

My other advice is to get on WebMD and check out their boards. I know they have one for pregnancy over 40 (it may be PG over 35 but you get the point). There will be a bunch of supportive women who are in the same place as you. I went on there to find support while PG with my 2nd. Since I lost my 1st I was a wreck and these women were a lifeline!

As hard as it may be given that this was unexpected and you are nervous, etc. - TRY to enjoy your pregnancy. Slow down and cherish that life inside of you. GOOD LUCK!

Congrads!

I see Dr. Heather Zechman at Virginia Women's Center St. Mary's. I love Dr. Zechman. She is very personable and willing to sit and answer any questions you may have. You can check out the practice here: www.VirginiaWomensCenter.com

Good luck in finding the right doctor for you! Congrads again.
