Our 3 year old turns 4 on Thursday. We already had a birthday party with our extended families but we want to go out for a family birthday dinner at a fun kid-friendly restaurant - we don't want to go to Chuck E Cheese...any ideas?

What can I do next?

Have you been to Family Village? It is a great place for a birthday party. They are located at 4000 Winnetka Ave N, Suite 300 in New Hope. You can choose from 20 themed birthday parties! The host will lead your children and their friends through theme related games, projects, stories, and songs. Check it out at www.familyvillage.net ,it's called Party House.

We have eaten at the Rainforest Cafe in the MOA, the kids love it, especially the frog that comes around to the tables.

There is a place in coon rapids called space alien it has great food and the games but instead of being right in the middle of everything they are in a room by themselves so you can eat then go do the game thing plus there is a guy in a big alien coustume that walks around. ithink it is way better than chucki e cheese

We just took the kids to Fudruckers, there is one in Eden Prairie. They are the same ages as your kids. It was nice because you order right away and they have some video games and lot's to see. They also have great ice cream and bakery. We had a good time! Just a thought.

Two good options are Fuddruckers - yummy food for adults and kids, a few video games kids can "pretend" play at, and as long as you sit towards the back, kids can run around a bit... not be stuck in a chair. And Joes Crab Shack. It has a huge playground outside (you can get tables outside near it, or eat inside and just go out while you are waiting for your food) and it has a fun vibe with dancing wait staff and stuff. Also, If you tell them it is a birthday, the staff has fun age appropriate interactive ways of announcing it. Bring a camera!!!

Not sure where you live but there are a few Space Aliens restaurants around the cities. The food is decent and there are lots of games for the kids.
