Looking for a Divorce Lawyer in Ellis County

I am not yet ready to file for divorce but am looking to find out who others would recommend and those they would definitely stay away from. Thanks

What can I do next?

I am sorry to hear that you are having to go through this. The best attorney to hire in Ellis Co. is Connie McGuire, Bar None. Tom Smalley is really good, also. Don't use David Abbott; he's known for his laziness. When I went through divorce, if I could have gotten Connie, I would have. She's ethical, but she can be as mean as a snake when she has to. I think everyone in the Wax. area knows of her reputation and tries to secure her. She stays very busy, so put her on retainer as soon as you can. Hire her for getting your will done or for some other legal matter. That way, your husband can't use her, and when you have to file, she can work for you.

Bob Carroll is a great attorney in Waxahachie. He used to be the County Court at Law judge for about 10 years, and then he decided to go back into private practice. I am an attorney (but I don't handle family law), and I actually have worked with him on a few things. I can definitely tell you he is very qualified and very considerate and understanding of the difficult situation that people are in when they are in the midst of a divorce, especially when children are involved. His number is ###-###-####.

As I mentioned, I don't handle family law, but if you have any questions, feel free to send me a message and I'll see if I can answer them.

DEFINATELY stay away from Todd Phillipi.
I have heard that he is without morals. In our brief dealings with him he was flighty and unorganized. We never even made it to court because he drug his feet so long that we missed our deadline (custody issues).

I have only Heard, but Constance McGuire in Waxahachie or Susan Mason in Midlothian are good, never heard any negative on either.

Good luck.
