Liquid Multi-Vitamin for Two Year Old Toddler
Hi! I have a very picky eater who will currently only eat about five things. Peas are the only fruit or vegetable he will eat.
Now that he is off formula, I am very worried about vitamin deficiency. In addition, the bumpy skin he inherited from me has gotten worse. Which I feel is evidence of a deficiency.
I have tried the Dr. Mercola chewable multi and he ate it twice because it looked like a bear and now he literally runs away when he sees me with the bottle. I feel like I could give him the liquid form more easily but I am having a hard time knowing which one is a quality vitamin/brand. Just wondering if any other moms have found a liquid toddler multi vitamin that they feel is high quality? Thanks in advance!
So What Happened?™
I visited the Vitamin Shoppe and purchased their brand of multi-vitamin and some fish oil. I also found some liquid vitamin C. For the past week, I have been giving him these every night after dinner with an eyedropper. He doesn't like it but he takes it without spitting it out as he has learned that results in being held down and given more. Sad but true. I tasted all before giving to my son and the fish oil is yucky of course but the other two are not bad. So, I think after awhile he'll start to like them. Also, for some reason this week, he has asked me for "bears" and has willingly eaten his chewable multis. So maybe he'll go that direction. I thank all of you for your help and advice.

I have been giving my son a liquid multivitamin since he was tiny. I use Liquid Children's Multi from The Vitamin Shoppe. The flavor is Orange Mango, and my son has had no problem with it at all. Here's a link to it...

If you're truly concerned about his nutrition, talk to his doctor. Toddlers don't always eat as well as we think they should, but they're just fine nutritionally-speaking.

Hi R.,
Toddlers are notorious for picky eating and it is great that you are recognizing the fact that he is probably not getting all the nutrients he needs for his growing body through his food. Shaklee has a multi-vitamin and multi-mineral powder that mixes very easily with water, juice or food. Shakleebaby Multivitamin & Multimineral Powder delivers 23 essential nutrients that your baby may not be getting from foods. In addition to providing a healthful serving of vitamins A, C, and all eight B vitamins to support proper growth, this powdered mix is formulated with a unique blend of clinically proven prebiotics - nutrients that encourage the growth of friendly microflora in the digestive tract to help support a strong immune system.* Plus, it’s got 400 IU of vitamin D to support strong bones and teeth. I have been successful in stopping my son from getting ear infections by using Shaklee's all natural products. Let me know if you would be interested in trying these for your son. Also we have a 100% money back guarantee.

We tried polyvisol with our kiddo and it tastes disgusting (very powerful flavor, too). I was bummed b/c a small bottle isn't cheap! However, if your little one likes strong juice (or yogurt) you might be able to disguise the flavor if you mix it in. Good luck!

The vitamin probably made him have an upset stomach. You are not better off with a liquid if he isn't eating enough to stave off the nausea. I would suggest you buy a protein shake like Boost Essentials.

I agree with Jodi that the liquids may make his tummy upset, especially if he's picky and not getting really full before he takes it. My kids love the disney gummy vitamins at Walmart. They're $5 a bottle. My 2 year old is also pretty picky and she loves those things! She never gets sick and neither does my 9 year old.

I gave my son Poly-vi-sol with iron until shortly before his third birthday. He took it daily with no problem (though he generally loves medicine and I never have trouble giving it to him). His pediatrician recommended it.
Now that he's three, he's taking the chewable Flintstones vitamins and also loves them.

My son, age 2, is fortunately not a picky eater, and he has been taking poly-visol drops for a long time in addition to everything he eats. We put it in his milk at night, and he drinks it with no problem. Of course, he *loves* milk, so if the drops change the flavor slightly, he hasn't seemed to mind at all. Good luck!

Arbonne has something for both issues. The childrens Punch Powder Vitamins can be added in juice or drank as is. My grandson (2yrs old) loves the vitamins he thinks he is drinking juice. Adults drink them as well when they need that added energy. The ABC Baby products Hair and Body Wash, Lotion and Oil (all the products made with only herbs and botanicals and NO MINERAL Oil that can can dry the skin) will help with the bumpy skin. Private message me for before and after pictures, samples of everything I mentioned and my contact information. When looking for vitamins for kids or adults you want to look for NO ADDED sugar, cold pressed if they are in a tablet form and made with REAL FOOD and Arbonne's Vitamins all are made that way.

I did not know this, but most of the ones at the supermarket or pharmacy have dyes, including Polyvisol. This is not good for kids. I get Animal Parade liquid from the health food store. Its bright red and very fruity tasting. It is all natural and my son really likes it. I use three plunger fulls that come with baby motrin. I don't know if you saved those but that is how we give it to my son and he doesn't mind. You are smart to give a multi, how about DHA/Cod Liver? That might help the bumpy skin. Nordic Naturals is what I give.
