So What Happened?

Thanks everyone. For the person who asked, my mother is schizo and therefore can't really take care of common tasks like look for life insurance. She has no debts but I worry about burial/funeral costs when she goes. We're living very tight right now and can't imagine coming up with even $10 grand for unexpected funeral costs so am trying to be proactive about it since I specifically know that she does NOT want to be cremated. Anyway, thanks again! Will try AARP.

Why do you need to get life insurance for your mom? Why is she not looking into it herself? If she does not have children to raise or debts to pay off in the event of her death, older people typically do not need life insurance.

If your mom is older it will be high and if she has any medical issues she may not be eligible for a lot of companies. I work for State Farm and they have a 10,000 final expense policy that has very little underwriting (no medical exam) Another one that advertises no medical underwriting is Globe Life. You can definately find soomething through AARP. Start on thier website.

New York Life is one that is pretty popular. some car insurance have offered too, but have no idea of their rates vs. an actual life ins company.

Find a company that is non-biased. If they offer multiple carriers, make sure they are out for your best interest, not getting the biggest commission. I used the site www.mwaquicklife.net they had a good agent call me the same day. Answered all my questions.

Maybe try AARP. They may have life insurance. I also know AMICA has life insurance, but not sure of the criteria.

I used to work for the company that did the phyicals so pretty familiar with all of them. Try New York Life best for older people. If not go to a broker that has several companies they work for and can give you the best rates.
