Lice - Gardner,KS

My family had to deal with lice a couple of times when I was young and what you describe does not sound anything like lice. If it was lice, you would be able to see the little bugs moving around. They really don't hide all that well and the eggs are not easy to get out. It sounds like just severe dry scalp. This will not go away with one treatment. I would recommend useing a medicated shampoo that is meant for dandruff and then a good conditioner. You might have to try a couple different products before you find something that works for your hair and skin type but try the stuff that you can get at Walmart before you try any expensive stuff.

If the white "flake" moves away easily it is NOT lice. We have dealt a lot with lice in the last year. If you can easily move it with your finger, it's just dandruff or dry skin. Be grateful it's not lice!

I dealt with Lice earlier this year with my oldest and myself. Go through her hair section by section, and pull her hair tight enough so you can see her scalp. Look around and see if you see any black speck looking things. If you do then try to touch it, if it moves then its lice. Check her whole head that way. The main spot I found lice on my daughters head was the top and back of her head ! I never did find eggs though. If you find that you all do have lice, you can go to Price Chopper and get RID. There is a 3 step process, but its not that expensive. If you guys have thick hair you might need to do it twice !

Hi there, I have been a hairdresser for over 20 years and have had to deal with lice many times in the salon. What you describe sounds like dry scalp, which can be very mild to very severe. What I've found works better than most things is to take your conditioner and apply it directly to your scalp where the issue is. Do this several different times and you should see a difference. If you dont, you might try Paul Mitchells Tea Tree but I recommend trying whatever conditioner you are currently using first. Hope this helps!
