Lets Teach Our Kids the Value of a Book

I have a five year old daughter and she loves books. We usually go to half price books and other book stores and trade in her books but lately I have noticed she is not getting anything for them, enabling her to get more books. I was thinking of having a group gathering of kids around the same age to get together and trade their books with each other. No money will be involved so that they will get to trade evenly between each other: i.e.,5 books for 5 books. I think it will give the kids a chance to get to know other kids and also the value of books. I would be willing to open my home up for them first, and then we can possible trade off, or find different places to go. just let me know if anyone would be interested. Thank you

What can I do next?

Libraries will often have book sales with great deals. A girlfriend goes to the Denton library sales. I think she pays $15 for a bag and as many books as she can stuff in it. She gets about 20 books at a time this way.

I bought a couple of lots of books on ebay for super cheap! Just do a search for children's books and I am sure you will find something for your daughter. Good luck, and happy reading!

Love your idea! What area do you live in? This would be a fun thing for us to do. My DD has tons of books but thinks she never has enough.
