I am looking for parks to take my children to play, hike, ride bikes, fly kites, go fish, ride a scooter, play with r/c airplane, picnics, feezbies, etc. I am new to the area and would like to find a park or parks within the Buckner, Oldham County area or even Louisville that accomodates fun activities with kids under all kinds of weather, snow, rain, and sunny days.

What can I do next?

Hi P. ...
In the Louisville area, you will find Great Parks. Cherokee is full of walking/biking trails, dog hills, and play areas. There is also Seneca Park, which is more of a walking loop (1.2 miles), but they also have tennis courts, a play area, and a lot of open field for people to play sports, picnic, etc. I don't know as much about Iroquois Park, but it is popular as well. I'm sure if you Google Louisville Metro Parks, it will give you a list. I am always amazed at the number of parks in town. You should also check out the downtown Waterfront.

Oldham Cty. has a great Aquatic ctr. near school(for Summer) and neighboring Shelby Co has a nice indoor pool so I hear. Tom Sawyer Park is nice for walking, frisbee (big open fields) off Westport Rd. near Springhurst Shopping Area (also has tennis courts, picnic area, swings, etc.) N. OLdham Cty has a nature preserve and Henry's Ark off Rose Island Rd. off Hwy42 is fun.
It has a variety of animals that have been rescued and you can feed them. Everything from goats to camels and a zebra! Enjoy!
P.S. Many of the gymnastics places in Lou., some close to you, have open gym days that are great fun for little ones, Too.

Hi P.,
I would just like to let you know of a place called the Playground. This is in the Forest Springs area near the Gene Snyder Freeway. They have some great things for children to do. This is an indoor area.
