My boys 3 1/2 and 5(almost 6) have been there about 3 times and they both really enjoyed it every time. There are some things the little one can't do, but then we just had one parent take the little one and the other take the older one and then meet up again afterward. There's a really nice Sheraton that has a private entrance to Legoland, I think we will stay there when we go in August. All the food there is decent and you can find some healthier options too. They also have the Waterpark and Aquarium which isn't that much more if you have time to do them. We bought tickets to the Waterpark and Legoland for all 4 us for under $300 and the 2nd day free. Have fun

I haven't been there myself, but I DID see a coupon on a LIFE cereal box. Buy one adult admission, get one children's admission free. Tickets are very pricey, so be sure to find coupons!!

Your kids are the perfect age and you will all LOVE it!!!
We haven't been there in years but I'm pretty sure we stayed at the Embassy Suites. We are huge fans of the complimentary breakfast buffet and evening cocktail hour :)

I have never been to but I saw at Burger King that if kids wear the crown from BK they get in for free. Just thought I would share that. Have a great trip

I think your kids are the perfect age for legoland. The park is really clean and is pretty much organized in a big loop. We went on Thanksgiving last year and it wasn't crowded that day. We only went the one time and did pretty much everything. we probably wont go again only because I think my kids are at the point where they are getting too old. Also for us it is more of a far away day trip. They did seem to have some healthy food selections although I can't quite remember what we ate. Make sure you find coupons for admission because it is super expensive. We had won tickets but I would not pay retail to go.

Perfect ages to go!!! We always stay in San Diego and drive the 45 minutes up to legoland to go. There is just a ton we love to see and do in San Diego if you have more time - Sea World, Tons of Beaches, Historical boats to tour, Zoo, Amazing restaurants. They are also building a Legoland Hotel, maybe not open by the time you're going, unless you are planning this trip way in advance!

I love Legoland! It's a lovely, easy place to spend the day with little ones. My favorite place to eat there is the Brickolini Pizza place, adjacent to the water play area. Pizza slices for kids meals and individual brick oven pizzas for parents, the vegetarian is yummy. Unlike other amusement park food, I actually look forward to eating there.

We've always stayed cheap at La Quinta in Carlsbad. But there are at least a couple nice hotels in the Legoland area. I like tripadvisor.com for reviews.

We have been to three Legolands (CA, FL and Deutschland). Our 6-year-old loved them all, but CA is our family's favorite. Your kids are at a great age to enjoy it. Just be aware that some rides have height requirements, so check those online or call the park first to make sure they won't get psyched up about a ride they're not allowed to go on. If you get the Lego Club magazine, they will often have coupons in there for 1 free child admission with 1 paid adult admission. Check Mousesavers.com for deals too.

Carlsbad is a great little town. There's a Residence Inn there you might look into - the suite setup, complimentary breakfasts, laundry facilities, etc. work really well for families.

Enjoy your trip!
