Left Areola Itches

Hi mams, so I have had this Itchy feeling for about 5 months now. Now there is a red little spot on the side of the areola about the size of a dime and it looks dry ,but itchy and it looks like its going away then it comes back and is turning a light brown but its still there. On my nipple in the middle itches really bad too. I just dont know what else to do. I have used all kinds of over the counter meds creams and nothing seems to help.
I have no Health Ins at this time, but I did make an appt at a low income center in two weeks. Any suggestions of what it could be or what I can do would be greatly appreciated..

What can I do next?

If you have had this for 5 months and tried to selfmedicate and won't go away......DON'T MESS AROUND!!! This could be a type of breast cancer called Pagets Decease..It is treatable but not if you don't take care of it soon.

I have had skin cancer twice (basal cell carcinoma), and both times it presented as small, flaky spots that kept returning to my forehead. Hopefully yours will just be a minor skin irritation, but it is certainly in your best interest to be seen by a dermatologist.

Good luck!

You need to go IMMEDIATELY and get tested for a rare and lethal form of breast cancer called Paget's disease. It is characterized by an itchy rash that does not resolve. God be with you.

I tried everthing on a sore like that for a year AND was seeing my OBGYN who gave me creams and such with antibiotics in them etc. I finally went to the surgeon with this specialty in womens stuff. For me it was Pagents disease which is a cancer. Yes, get Kaiser ins or something quick before you go. The itch and the not healing were like mine but mine was on the nipple. So it can be a dermatitis of sorts.

...hmmmm...
Does the itchy area look like a round shaped patch?
Are you nursing or anything?
Sometimes, fungus can create real itchy areas on the skin... and if it is a fungus/ring worm type of thing... it will look round, circular in shape and appears to be a dry patch and it will itch.
You could dry over the counter fungal creams... the kind for jock itch or the kind to athlete's foot, or vaginal yeast creams. Use it for a few days and see if it goes away or improves. You wouldn't know for sure if it is a fungus... because you have not had it diagnosed by a Doctor... but you could try that. It if goes away... then it probably was a fungus/ring worm thing. But, ideally... yes, go to a Doctor... and see what it is.
Just an Idea... I am not a Doctor, but I have had as a kids, fungus/ring worm... it looks like a round itchy dry patch.

And yes, as the other poster said, breast health is real important and if you can get into the clinic sooner, that would be best.

good luck,
susan

Not to alarm you, but I agree with DanaW. You should make it a priority to see a doctor and have this thing checked out. It's probably nothing, but why take any kind of chance.

Honestly, V., I wouldn't wait the 2 weeks to be seen at the low income clinic. Do they know why you need to be seen? I don't know Dermatology well, usually, when breast health is an issue, physicians' offices will make it a priority to see you.

When I had mastitis with my daughter, they got me an ultrasound the next day. When, a few weeks later, I found a swollen lymph node, the breast ultrasound was again ordered. I didn't have breast cancer, but I did have Lymphoma (Hodgkins).

Good luck. I hope it's nothing and you'll have peace of mind soon.

Breathe. There could be a myriad of reasons - from candida, parasites to breast cancer. Don't stress about it, but go have it checked out and then, if they come up with nothing, then keep searching.
