Learning Differences

Has anyone heard of Great Lakes Academy, a private school for kids with Learning Differences?

What can I do next?

We visited Great Lakes Academy when we were looking for a school for my 10 year old daughter. The facilities were nice and the head of school seemed quite good. I spoke with a parent of a child there who was very pleased with the school.

We ended up choosing St. Timothy Academy because we liked the religeous component and there were more girls my daughters age. I don't know if St. Timothy is a consideration for you. We have been incredibly happy with St. Timothy. We are just so impressed by the faculty and the administration.

You can also check out this place too: http://www.cscfw.org/about/ Child Study Center Hope this helps.

I considered putting my son in it a few years back when we were having struggles with him and school. I was extremely impressed and felt like the lady who ran it really understood what we were dealing with. She moved here from Canada for her child, just to go to this school. When the guy who ran it left, she took it over because she believed in it so much. Her focus is on the children, first and foremost. I really didn't have the funds to cover private school at the time so it wasn't an option for us.

My daughter also has a friend who goes there and really likes it.

Hope that helps.

Have not heard of that one but know of Shelton Acadamy and Winston Acadamy

I am not familiar with that particular school, bur I am familiar with a private school for children with learning disabilities which is in LaPorte. They have small classes, K-8, and use the Alphabet Phonics method which is taught at Neuhaus Education Center in Houston. The name of the school is Bay Area Academy (NOT Bay Area Christian Academy). It really helped my daughter.
