Hey Ladies! I have a 3 year old (turned 3 late August) and a 16 month old - I am trying to decide on the Leap Frog Tag reading system for my 3 year old for Christmas - I am trying to decide between the Tag Jr and the Tag reading system - I am really leaning towards the Tag Jr because I think both children would enjoy it whereas the regular Tag may be a little mature for my three yr old right now and the youngest defintely will not be able to play with it - does anyone have any experience with one or both of these? Any opinions? Thanks

I got the Tag for my 4 year olds birthday and now at 4.5, he is just starting to really use it and loves it. I would go with the junior and save it for your little one when you 3 year old is done with it!

My daughter got a Tag for her 4th birthday, played with it for about a week, and now it's put aside. I think she's too young for it still. Maybe next year. I wish I would have gotten a Leapster instead. She could take it with her in the car, etc. and it seems more age appropriate. Another LeapFrog item I highly recommend if you want your children exposed to the reading aspects are the "Letter Factory" and "Word Factory" videos. My daughter watches it in the car and asks to watch them at home. A close friend's two year old knew his word sounds after watching "Letter Factory" only a few times. JMO.

I have no experience of these items in particular but have had several other leapfrog games/toys for my kids and they are all good so I don't think you will have any issues. My eldest 2 (6 & 4) both have the leapster and my 17 month old can switch it on and use the pen on the screen correctly , you will be surprised at how much they pick up by watching older siblings , so to save money I would go with the regular one because they will probably outgrow the Jr fairly quickly.

My nephew has the regular leapfrog and he loves it. He is four. You would be surprised at how fast they learn to use them. However, I am not sure of the big difference between the two because I have only seen the regular one. The games are great. It gives them the sense that they are like the big kids and they are learning something at the same time.

My daughter has a tag reader, she just turned 5, and she loves it! I am not sure about the tag jr. but I love leap frog products so I think you would be safe with it.
