Leaky Dishwasher

We had this happen and had a repair man come out to take a look at it (we had coverage for appliances) It didn't take much time at all....all he did was unscrew the front part and clean out the area where the food gets ground up. He said to just make sure no meat or larger pieces of food go in the dishwasher because it was just clogged up. He didn't charge much at all because it took less than 30 minutes. Worth a shot before you get a new one. Good luck!

It REALLY depends on the BRAND.

We had this happen to us too! We would clean the seal by the door and then it would not leak for a time or two and then leak again. Finally, it was soaking THROUGH a big bath towel.

I called our local repair place and talked to a guy. Our dishwasher is about 7 or 8 years old so I didn't want to pay the $50 fee for them to even come out if it was better to just buy a new one. He had me give him the brand (Kitchen Aid) and the numbers. He looked it up and said it was a really good one and should hopefully last at least 12 to 15 years. So, we had them come out. It needed a new seal but the directions he had said to put it on one way which turned out to be backwards! He ended up coming out like 3 times but it only cost us about $150 and now our dishwasher has been working like a charm for over a month! LOVE NOT HAVING A SOAKING WET TOWEL ON THE FLOOR ANYMORE!!!
