Leaking Urine

I gave birth 7 weeks ago and have just now started experiencing periodic leaking urine. I have been doing Kegal exercises (not routinely though). Just wondering if any other moms have had this problem, should I contact my physician, what helped your problem...

Thanks

I also wish I knew how to stop this. I have always been too embarrased to ask my Dr. My husband thinks it is hilarious because when I sneeze or cough, etc. I have to hold my legs together hoping not to pee. If you find out how to make it quit I would love the secret also.

First of all don't sneeze lol, or cough, or laugh too hard. And if you find a way to stop this let me know because after childbirth nothing is ever the same again.

I had my first 6 years ago and have a second 2 years ago and I still have this prob with laughing real hard or sneezing real hard. Its no big deal since it is a bit, but it is normal after having kids. Just keep doing kegals and stuff to help with it.

This can be a problem for quite some time after you have a baby. The problem is that your bladder has not figured out that you are not pregnant anymore and it is still used to the pressure from the baby. You NEED to see your Gyn for this problem. You can take meds until it returns to normal. Goodluck!

I experienced the same thing as you with my son and the leaking subsided after about 4-6 months at the latest. My Dr. told me to do kegels but I really wasn't too consistent in doing them, so I just wore a light pad until the issue subsided. I never even had the pee escaping when I laughed or sneezed or anything, it was just a slow leak that dampened my underwear. It will go away!

R.,
Keep doing the Kegal's. Doesn't have to be 'routinely' just anytime you thing about it. Heck you could be going down the road or standing in line at the grocery store and do them. :) It does get better. However, it does take a while. If you notice you have the issues through out the day you may want to have a panty liner, that way you can change it an not feel wet or have a smell. It also keeps you from worrying if you wet enough to show through your pants. Don't get too worried about it though. It'll be all good. :)
Congradulations on the little boy!

Keep doing kegals. If it doesn't stop, you might want to ask your doctor, and make sure you're doing them correctly. Unfortunately, this is one of the things you have to deal with after having a baby. :/

I few years after my daughter was born I started leaking, the same as you. Over a few months it progressively got worse and eventually there were times when I stood up from a sitting position and my bladder just seemed to "let go."

I made an appointment with a urologist and found my bladder had "fallen" and become tilted. To correct this they "tied" my bladder up using a sling. Immediately following the surgery I could tell a HUGE difference.

So if your condition continues or becomes worse I suggest a trip to the urologist. Don't wait till your tying a jacket around your wait to keep from looking like you've had "an accident."
