Has anyone had success removing chocolate ice cream from clothing? My good ole Zout can't handle it and I'd hate to think the clothes are ruined!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for taking the time to give your recommendations. So far I have tried ERA, Oxy Clean, Zout, Purex, Spray and Wash Max with Resolve Power, and Spot Shot. Nothing has removed it as of yet. It still has not been in the dryer and my husband asked if this has become my life mission. I will keep on trying and let you know what eventually works...I hope!

I unfortunately do not have a magic solution but I do recommend not putting the clothes in the dryer since then the stain is in permantly (I learned the hard way). good luck.

You can also try simple green (it's in a spray bottle)which is in the automotive section or fels naptha soap (it's a bar. I have used both for a variety of different stains and they both work well.

I also soak the item in a bucket of water and a scoop of oxyclean free (powder) - sometimes I leave it in there for days. If that doesn't work, try creating a paste of oxyclean powder mixed with a little water and covering the spot with the paste. Just leave it on there for a while - even up to a day, then rinse out.

Another good product is "Fulsol" from the Fuller Brush Company (its a degreaser that gets all sorts of stuff out) but you have to get it from a Fuller Brush salesperson I think.

I like you have tried MANY stain removers, most without success! I have three children and just recently discovered Melaleuca's "Pre-Spot" Laundry Stain Remover. It ACTUALLY works; it removed red dye from my son's white nylon Penn State jersey. It has also removed mud from one of my daughters pink sweat outfits. It is concentrated and does not take much. It is very economical and environmentally safe. I am not a big believer in home-based businesses, but they have been around for several years with success. I gave them a try as my girlfriend in KS began trying their products then selling them. I was hesitant, but now love many of their products, especially since they are EcoSense my children can clean with them as "helpers" or be exposed to them without any harm. Their web-site is; www.melaleuca.com or you can email my friend, it does not matter where you or she is, they ship directly to you... ____@____.com of Luck!

Hi B.D. I have used Shout Gel for years with great results. It gets black broiler hood grease out of oxford shirts, two year old formula stains from baby clothes, taco grease, ice cream, speg. sause, coffee, tea....the only thing I have had no luck removing is printer ink LOL. One bit of advise, you have to let it sit for at least a day (you can treat it up to a week before washing) and if you use it on an old white shirt don't be surprised if you have a really white spot in place of the stain when your done. I don't know what I would do without it...I keep a bottle of it in our bathroom so that we can treat our clothes as we take them off before we put them in the laundry hamper. I don't like the other shout products, but I sware by shout Gel.

Gonzo stain remover is great for any kind of organic stain (soil, blood, chocolate, etc.) but if that doesn't work, try soaking it in oxyclean. That stuff is amazing! (And btw, it's the only thing I found that reliably removes baby poop stains. Every. Time.)

I've had great luck with a spray solution of oxiclean. If you can't find it, make up your own solution by mixing the granules in moderately hot water and apply to the stain. With a little rub it should come out.

Try Spray and Wash. It has "Resolve power" in it. I think it is a god-send. Just saturate the stain with it right before you launder and, of course, wash in the hottest water possible for the fabric. Aslo, soaking clothes in OxyClean (they make one just for babies too) always helps fade set-in stains.

Choc. ice cream is one of the hardest things I have found to get out. My daughter just got it on her again last night. My old next door neighbor told me to use dish soap. I put that on last night, so we will see today when I wash it.

I have always had great luck with baby oxyclean - I have the regular oxyclean now, but I swear the baby oxyclean powder does a better job. Not one of my baby's clothes was stained as an infant. Anway, I read about the dish soap response also. My Mom swears by blue dawn dish soap to get out anything that has grease in it....since it isn't expensive it maybe worth a try here too. I'd love to hear what happens - we haven't encountered that stain yet.

my mother pointed me to a stain recipe she saw in a paper which she had not tried yet.

IT GETS EVERYTHING ORGANIC OUT!!!

this stuff is so good it allowed me to recover all my babies' beautiful but spit up stained clothes which i had saved to sell. it has gotten out everything i have ever used it on, except something like ink or paint. all food and protein stains will be removed.

1 c. clorox 2 liquid
1 c. cascade dish wash crystals.

mix in a bucket with VERY hot water. the water will be super saturated and very difficult to get it all to dissolve. story alot. soak clothes overnight. launder as usual.

this mix has made it possible for me to resell items i thought were ruined on ebay!

Hi!
I haven't had that particular stain before, but with everything that has a stain, I spray it with Shout Advanced gel and then I have a bucket with colorsafe bleach mixed with water that I keep on top of the washing machine and I soak any clothes in that bucket that have stains. It has gotten every stain out so far, even blood!

My daughter is only 5 months old, so we have not started with ice cream. However, I have found that Oxi Clean laundry spray has been wonderful. Saved many outfit that have been victim to explosive diapers and it had also taken out blood and other food stains.
If you have already put it in the dryer it may not come out with Oxi Clean as that stain may have already set.
Hope this helps!!

There is a product called White Wizard that I SWEAR by. I've never seen it sold anywhere but in catalogs, but I sell it on my website because I love it so much. You can email me if you want to try it.

I've had great success with using Shaklee's liquid laundry concentrate. I wet the area, apply a tiny amount directly on the stain, gently rub it and wash it with the same detergeant and I also include Nature's Boost brightener and stain remover and it works! I've had it remove chocolate and juice stains from my daughter's clothing.

In addition to Shaklee's cleaners doing a great job, they are also non-toxic, safe to have around children, and are environmentally safe. At first when I started using Shaklee, I became a member so I can get the discount, then I upgraded to become a distributer. So, if you would like to learn more about their products or would like to purchase, please go to my website at www.shaklee.net/kathompson . Shaklee found by selling directly through satisfied users, instead of through stores, they are able to use the money that would be spent on advertising into their research and products. They also offer a 100% money-back guarantee (minus shipping).

If you have any questions, just ask me! Good luck with it!

Get a spray bottle from a Dollar store, fill it with 1/2 water and 1/2 white vinegar and shake everytime you go to use it. Lay a white wash-cloth or towel in your hand and put the stained side on top of towel stain faced up. Spray from about 6 inches away. This is most usefull right after it happens. You can also use club soda

Hi
Go to the automotive section of Walmart and purchase a plastic jar of GOOP hand cleaner. Put the white cream on the chocolate ice cream and let it sit for a day. Wash. If not completely out repeat and after putting the GOOP on, soak in oxy-clean powder dissolved in water for a few days then wash and it should be gone. GOOP is usualy about $2 and lasts a long time. Good luck!

look in the laundry aisle. There are some small bottles of Carbona Stain Remover, you will find all different types of formulations for different stains. They have one for coffee, chocolate and wine? I believe. they have them for crayon etc... I know the local Coopersburg Giant carries them

My first line of defense however is either Oxci Clean on pre soak plus stain cycle or Zout.

Good Luck!

Yes I get chocolate ice cream out with my shout stick all the time. At least twice a week. They
have chocolate ice cream at my mother-in-laws once a week and I don't put the shout on til the next morning and it still works. If it doesn't come out on the first washing, do not put it in the dryer. Put more shout on it and put it in with the next load of wash you can. It should come out by the second time. I usually get it out on the first, but it can depend on the shirt or pants.

I keep a bucket next to my washer & throw the nasty stuff in there. When I have a bit or the actual time, I fill the bucket w/ very warm water, a full scoop of oxy clean & a bit of l. detergent & throw the clothes in it to soak. Next time I do a load, I just dump the bucket in there.

This works almost every time but the trick is the warm water, it activates the oxiclean to work. So...if you throw an item in once the water cools down, it might not work as well.

Hi,
My uncle says hydrogen peroxide is great for getting stains out of anything. Just pour it on full strength, and let it soak for a few minutes. You will actually see the liquid foaming like it does on a bruise. I have tried it on my carpet to get out blood, and it worked like a charm.

In the past, Era (in the red bottle) has gotten out all my stains. Since I have to use free and clear type detergents (due to sons allergies) I use either Oxy Laundry stain (in a spray bottle) or Oxy powder in a tub. Both have gotten out a list of stains including chocolate and blood. For the spray, spray on and let sit for a min of 10 min before washing; I wash in cold. For the powder, add water and soak garment/area in it for at a while (usually 1/2 hour depending on the stain). Good Luck!

You can try to get a small box of powdered Tide. In the kitchen sink, tub, or bucket, put the item needing cleaned in the bottom, just get the item damp using warm water, then take and sprinkle tide over the stain and barely cover the item with warm water. Leave it soak overnight, rinse with cold water and wash as normal. It worked on formula stains and works on oil stains also. If you don't use Tide normally and don't want to go to the expense of getting a big box, stop at your local laundry and get one out of the machine.

Orange Pine-Sol directly on the stain as soon as possible will take out almost anything, including berry stains. Goo-gone sometimes work well too when other removers have failed. Remember though, once your dry the clothing in a dryer the stain is basically set. I use the Orange Pine-Sol for almost every stain. I have 8 children and it works wonderful. For some reason the other Pine-Sols do not work though.

Have you ever tried using Greased Lightning or the Advanced Shout. Both of these work wonders and if you don't get them out the first time try applying either one of these again while they are wet and then rewash them. THis might help, but if the stain is pretty old it might not.

Hello, the best stain remover in the world is Dreft. You can find it at Wal-Mart and I belive Babys-R-Us. I swear by this stuff and won't use anything else. I even use it on my clothes. My son fell one time and split his lip. Needless to say he had blood all over his white shirt. I figured the shirt was ruined but I sprayed some Dreft on it and threw it right into the wash. The stain completly came out. It has also gotten out grass stain so I am sure it will get out chocolate. Good Luck!
