Laundry and Stain Removal

Has anyone had success removing chocolate ice cream from clothing? My good ole Zout can't handle it and I'd hate to think the clothes are ruined!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thank you all for taking the time to give your recommendations. So far I have tried ERA, Oxy Clean, Zout, Purex, Spray and Wash Max with Resolve Power, and Spot Shot. Nothing has removed it as of yet. It still has not been in the dryer and my husband asked if this has become my life mission. I will keep on trying and let you know what eventually works...I hope!

I unfortunately do not have a magic solution but I do recommend not putting the clothes in the dryer since then the stain is in permantly (I learned the hard way). good luck.

You can also try simple green (it's in a spray bottle)which is in the automotive section or fels naptha soap (it's a bar. I have used both for a variety of different stains and they both work well.

I also soak the item in a bucket of water and a scoop of oxyclean free (powder) - sometimes I leave it in there for days. If that doesn't work, try creating a paste of oxyclean powder mixed with a little water and covering the spot with the paste. Just leave it on there for a while - even up to a day, then rinse out.

Another good product is "Fulsol" from the Fuller Brush Company (its a degreaser that gets all sorts of stuff out) but you have to get it from a Fuller Brush salesperson I think.

I haven't had to take out chocolate ice cream yet, but I have successfully removed grape juice, coffee and red wine from white clothing with Oxy in the spray bottle. Usually I spray it and then let it sit for a day and then spray again before washing. good luck!

I'm a big Shout user. I'd spray it on, rub it, even with an old toothbrush, spray again and let it sit about 15 minutes. Then toss it in the wash. That usually works for me.

OxyClean is amazing!

I know chocolate is a hard one to wash out. My son has ruined clothes with chocolate milk if I don't get to the stain fast enough. I always use dual action spray and wash on the tough stains. I almost always have success. I also have a friend who swears by Shout. Good luck!

I use Oxi Clean for anything that won't come out. It is great on organic stains. You can mix some up in a bottle and spray the stain, wait an hour or two then wash with your laundry. If it still doesn't come out soak it over night.

Hello, the best stain remover in the world is Dreft. You can find it at Wal-Mart and I belive Babys-R-Us. I swear by this stuff and won't use anything else. I even use it on my clothes. My son fell one time and split his lip. Needless to say he had blood all over his white shirt. I figured the shirt was ruined but I sprayed some Dreft on it and threw it right into the wash. The stain completly came out. It has also gotten out grass stain so I am sure it will get out chocolate. Good Luck!

Have you ever tried using Greased Lightning or the Advanced Shout. Both of these work wonders and if you don't get them out the first time try applying either one of these again while they are wet and then rewash them. THis might help, but if the stain is pretty old it might not.

Good Luck.
