Last Good Book You Read?
I just finished Save Me by Lisa Scottoline and The Castaways by Elin Hilderbrand and enjoyed them but now I'm looking for something else that will keep my attention....any suggestions?

Recently I read Water For Elephants and would like to read The Help before I see the movie.
Also, just was exposed to ANYTHING by David Sedaris--older books but SOOOO funny: Barrel Fever, Naked, Holidays on Ice and Me Talk Pretty One Day. His books have me laughing out loud.
I also second the recommendation for Jeanette Walls: Glass Castle and Half Broke Horses.

The Help.
The Red Tent. It was a fascinating read!!
Water for Elephants ...was really good...so was the movie.
Happy reading!! Thanks for the post..I got some good titles to add to my "must read" list once the kids go back to school and I have a little more time to read.

Of course the last good book I read was my own! But, I am still editing it so I have to read it, and read it and read it. :) Before that it was the Hunger Games. In fact I read the series way too quickly and am having to go back through them:) I'm afraid most of the books I read are in Young Adult, as that is my field and I like to stay current on what the trends are doing.

my husband and I both just liked the Hunger Games Trilogy. If you like Zombie stuff, World War Z was really good. It was about a reporter after the zombie apocolypse was stopped goes around the world and interviews people who survived and you can see how different parts of the world/US/etc reacted and turned the tide of the Zombie threat. Weirdly thought provoking.
I also really enjoyed The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton.

I read both books when I was younger, but it was a treat to read them again!
Oh, I also loved "The Help". Wow, what a great book!

"The Lonely Polygamist" by Brady Udal is OUTSTANDING! It's funny and sad and interesting -and quite different. It's everything a novel should be!
Before that I read a non-fiction and FASCINATING book titled, "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" about this woman's cell line that virtually every modern medical miracle in the 20th and 21st centuries from the 50s on has been built on! Her family didn't even know for years, and she never knew. Very interesting about medical rights regarding tissue samples, after death, etc. and a really good read!

I just read "Love Walked In" and "Belong to Me" by Marisa de los Santos.
Some call them 'chick lit'. I couldn't put them down! Her other books are of poetry, so she certainly knows how to turn a phrase with beauty.

I like historical fiction. Even more so if it is based on fact.
I read the Clan of the Cave Bear, by Jean Auel She wrote 5 or 6 books in the series.
I read The Prelude to Glory series aboout the Revolutionary War.
If you like American History and the wars/battles with the indians and early settlement of the American Colonies based on historical fact with lots of research, But is fiction, "The Frontiersmen" by Allan Eckert. I found it amazing how cruel the indians could be to each other and to the colonists and how quickly the colonists adapted and became cruel too.
Of course, I like the classics, Call of the Wild, and White Fang by Jack London, Mysterious Island by Jules Verne, Swiss Family Robinson by Johann Wyss and who could not include John Grisham's, "The Rainmaker", or "the Firm".
Good luck to you and yours.

I"m going to second the idea of joining goodreads.com, That way you can see what your friends are reading (it can take FB friends, email friends, etc). It's a great way to get book ideas. I'll recommend the book City of Bones by Cassandra Clare - it's being made into a movie. There are 4 out of the 6 books out right now and it's the Mortal Instruments series. Very good.

I'm a librarian and HUGE reader. I've read probably 2/3 of the titles already mentioned and really liked most of them. Good recommendations!
If you liked the Hilderbrand book you just read, she just came out with a new one called Silver Girl. Some of the best books I've read recently include:
Paris Wife (McLain)
Secret Daughter (Gowda)
Saving Cee Cee Honeycutt (Hoffman)
Scent of Rain and Lightning (Pickard)
Pillars of the Earth (Follett)
Room (Donahue)
Hunger Games trilogy (collins)
Forgotten Garden (Morton)
Still Alice (Genova)
Girl Who Fell from the Sky (Durrow)
If you are looking for book ideas, I'd recommend you join Goodreads (www.goodreads.com). It's kind of social media for book lovers. I get a lot of book suggestions from it. If that is not of interest to you, try a subscription to Bookmarks magazine... or see if your local library has a subscription that you can browse for ideas.

I've been reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series. It's a mystery/intrigue series, a little dark, and some of the characters are hard to like, but very interesting characters and good mystery.
I also just downloaded The Help so I can read it before the movie. Heard it's great.

The Hunger Games trilogy! My sister in law recommended it to me and I have gotten both my sister and my mom to read them and we LOVE them (and my mom is a really picky reader!). Couldn't put it down! I recently also got into the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. Easy, fun reads.

The Virgin Blue by Tracy Chevalier but that might not keep your attention. It drags for a bit, you have to keep up with it, but it has a wicked awesome twist at the end.
