LASIK Eye Surgery - Haysville,KS

I am so tired of my contacts! I have worn contacts since 7th grade, and now I can barely wear them anymore. I get up at 4, put them in around 5, and they cut into my eye and are really dry by around 3:30 or 4:00 in the afternoon. I'm terrified of doing LASIK, but I feel like I need to for my sanity (my husband agrees lol) I'm just wanting any advice you may have.
Also, I am in the Wichita area and go to Grene Vision Group. Does anyone know about how much they run? (Or, just how much did yours cost anyway?)
Any tips, advice, or experiences would be appreciated :)

What can I do next?

I had mine done 7 years. It was the best decision I ever made. Back then it was around 2-3 thousand dollars. My husband had it done 9 years ago.

We both have no issues as a result. It was a scary experience. The actual procedure itself only lasts about a minute. They can give you something to take the edge off. They do clip your eyes open which I thought would be awkward, but it did not bother me at all. It was painless for all except 10 seconds, but they seemed to last forever. The second they finish you can see everything, it was amazing. After wards was the part I was not prepared for. It is only mild discomfort (similar to getting soap in the eyes) for the next few hours and then you don't feel anything. There are strict rules about the healing process and that is the part that still freaks me out and would prevent me from doing it again if I needed. I was so afraid something would move the flap and hinder feeling.

I know I contradict myself. I would not do it for a second time just because of the place I am in my life (and the fear of side effects/problems) but at the time it was the greatest decision ever. For the first few years I would wake up every morning amazed I could see the alarm clock.

Oy. My eyes are so bad and getting worse as I get older. I tried contacts and it was the worst thing I ever put myself through. Unfortunately, I went to an eye doctor that didn't tell me I shouldn't have been wearing them in the first place.
Anyway, I sympathize with you. Some people love contacts but all the years you've been doing it, if you can get a procedure to spare you, I think you should go for it!
My eyes can't be corrected by LASIK, but I so wish they could. I know people that have done it and are not sorry at all.
I'm in California so I can't comment on the specific place you are asking about, but hopefully you can get some good references.
I have no problem with blood and guts, I work at a hospital. But for some reason, anything to do with the eyes gives me the willies and I totally understand being afraid about it.
But, I have family who've done cataract surgery and LASIK and they say it's not nearly as bad as it can seem.
They are all happy they did it.

Best wishes and let us know if you get it done!

My husband had it done when we were living in England. He chose to go to a clinic that ONLY did this and did it in quantity. He wanted a place that had the process down pat. His surgery was successful without a hitch and although he was told to stay away from the beach for a month we were in Egypt three weeks later (although we didn't hit any sandstorms while we were there LOL)! Sorry I can't help on price.

I don't know about that specific doctor, but I paid $2000 out of pocket (insurance didn't cover it) about 8 years ago. Don't be too nervous, lasik is one of the easiest surgeries you can get. Plus the results were fast, I could see the people in the waiting room clearly as soon as the nurse brought me out of the procedure room! Also I felt like it paid for itself within a year. The only downside - and I guess this is pretty common if your vision is as bad as mine was - is that things have a glare at night, so my eyes get tired when I drive in the dark. But I'm so glad I did it, I've never regretted it. Go for it!

My eyesight was so bad that I was afraid for the safety of my daughter, if I lost a contact or my glasses, I was unable to see more than two feet in front of my face. And of course I was tired of wearing glasses/contacts since I was 10.

Lasik was wonderful! I was completely without glasses/contacts for over four years. Then because I was in my 40s, I gradually needed a minor perscription. I still only really need glasses for driving or watching a movie. It was well worth the short-term discomfort and cost! Mine cost more than normal because not only did I have a very strong correction and astigmatism, but I also had a thin cornea, so I needed a special laser machine.

I recommend doing this. The upfront exam should answer a lot of your questions.

The procedure was over so quickly. Then I walked out of the clinic seeing quite clearly. I did have some pain/discomfort that afternoon, and did what they recommended and took a nap. That evening, I was fine and could see! I tend to have dry eyes, so I needed moisurizing drops for a long time after (got really good at putting in eye drops) but then all of a sudden I didn't need them anymore.

My sister had hers done at Greene Vision in Wichita and they charged around $2,000 or so for the surgery. She's really happy with how it turned out too.

She did tell me though that they charge different amounts depending on your personal situation but the consultation appointment was free. She went to one of their westside offices if I remember correctly.

I do not live in that area so sorry I can't advise on the doctors. However I will tell you I was legally blind without my glasses since I was in my early teens. In fact I was in bifocals in elementary school. I have severe allergies which makes my eyes itchy anyway so contacts were never comfortable for me. Hubby and I both got lasik several years ago and it was the best money I've ever spent. I love not having to sleep in glasses anymore. Literally my eyes were so bad that I couldn't even find my glasses on the nightstand when I woke up. And heaven forbid an emergency come up in the middle of the night because I wouldn't have been able to see to get out of the bed let alone the house. I now have better than 20/20 vision. What a blessing. I say go for it and enjoy your new world. Good luck and God Bless.

I had my surgery done about 13 years ago and I love it. My prescription was so bad that I could not wear contacts because they would be so thick. I do have an issue with driving at night because I have halos around the lights now but they can use a different laser to correct this now. I love it during the day and I love the fact that I can wear sunglasses! I can remember when I first got it saying, "There are trees up there on that mountain!" One of my eyes is actually better then normal. My ran about $4000.
