I am dying to find out whether this is true. Once you have laser hair removal in your underarm area, would the hair never grow back? Does anybody has a great experience with their laser hair removal and recommend the technician near north dfw area?
Thank you so much

So What Happened?

Hi, I would like to give u update on this first question I had about laser hair removal. During spa week a year ago, I purchased 1 time underarm LHR from a med spa at Medical City hospital. I forgot who the Doc was but it was at a Doc office and he specialized in plastic surgery I think.
I went there and after I was done, it was so painful, I had to stop in the hospital hallway and sat while crying like a baby. Both underarms were burned and turned brown. I thought I was about to have this forever, then I bought Bio-Oil and put it on the burned area 3 times a day religiously. Thank goodness my underarms are no longer brown after a while. Then I found a courage to do it again 2 months ago when I bought 6 treatments at Med Laser Skin Spa in Flower Mound from GROUPON. I LOVE GROUPON. And I told the story to the Tech and she has been so nice and making sure I was not gonna have a horrible experience like before. The zapping is still ouchy but nothing like I had experienced the first time. I am so happy! thank you all. I just did my 2nd treatment, I only had to shave once every 6 weeks, that is awesome!

If you want permanent hair removal you need to do electrolysis. It is a commitment but it works. I had it done 2 years ago to my bikini area -- no shaving again! :-) The best electrolysis in town is Lynne Raines at Greak Skin by Lynne -- she is amazing, very personable and will give you a consultation -- she is in Oak Lawn. Here is her website -- let her know I sent you!

I have had 5 treatments on my bikini area and full legs. The laser kills the dark hair but not the blonde. Once the hair is killed it won't come back but that doesn't stop new hair follicles from growing. I have a scattering of hair on my legs that I need to get a touch up on but I now only shave about every 10 days. I love it.

Sorry to bust the ballon, but the hair does grow back. If you don't go for costly 6 week treatments the hair will and does regrow. I have had a yr of laser treatments to the lip, underarms, legs and other areas and after I stopped going back for the "touch-ups" the hair is back in full force.

Anyone who tells you that laser hair removal is permanent is pulling you leg. However, it does provide ALMOST permanent removal. You won't have to shave or wax anywhere as often. I go to Uptown Laser and Skin in Uptown and have had great results. I know it is a little drive, but I think it is worth the drive since laser hair removal is their only service (as opposed to the jack of all trades type med spas). Their number is ###-###-####.

I have had it and LOVE it! My skin is so fair that even after I shaved, you could see the hair beneath the skin, so it ALWAYS looked like i had stubble on my legs adn under arms.
I had 5 treatments at Sona Med Spa in Frisco over an 18 month period. That pretty much did it for my under arms. i do have 2 or 3 fine hairs that still grow, so I have to remember to shave or pluck those about once per month. I'm sure a 6th treatment would get rid of them, but I bught a 5 treatment package and just haven't gotten around to going back for #6.
My legs did pretty well, too, but I do have to shave about once every 3 weeks or so. I think they need 2 or 3 more treatments.
Bikini did well, too. I never have to shave...no razor bumps! It's awesome! I would highly recommend it! Best money I ever spent!
Word of caution...excruciatingly painful!! It feels like you're being sliced with a hot knife! The pain goes away quickly...but there is no way around it...it HURTS!

I own a laser. That is a fallacy. Hormones will kick in and there will be a hair here and there. The amount depends on your hormones. I've done 20 treatments on my underarms, and every so often there is a hair..... It's no biggy, I just cut it off.

I have had laser removal on my bikini, lower legs and underarms.

Yesterday was my 5th treatment, and now I will only have to go back every few years as new hairs grow in. :-D
I think I started the whole thing in Feb? It has been about $2500 total. I am very happy with the results, but it is very painful (to me). I have 16 tattoos and would much rather sit through one of those. I also had them put "topical" on me each time, which is at least $100 a treatment, but very slightly numbs the areas.
I have only had 2 treatments on my underarms (without topical), so far nothing growing back... but I had VERY little hair there to begin with, under 20 hairs. I also got a major discount because of my size (80 lbs) since there was not a lot of "area" esp. on my legs which are obv. very skinny. My legs and bikini have responded wonderfully. I have fairly dark brown hair and light skin, which is the best combo they said. I do know that they cannot use Laser removal on red hair, FYI.

I went to Premier Laser Center in Denton, which is very inexpensive compared to other centers. Good Luck!

I had my eyebrows and upper lip down, finished treatments a year ago. got the 5 they recommended, plus a 6th. The hair is thinner, but not gone completely, and they will tell you too that hair may grow back several years down the road, and with hormone changes. It's nice to have the thinner hair, but sure was expensive for not getting the complete hair removal they make you think you're getting in the ads.

I have not had the underarm area done but currently doing the face and bikini area. I have used Smooth Solutions and currently using American Laser Center. I would recommend checking both out and compare the prices. It takes about 4 to 6 treatments to get rid of most of the hair due to growth cycles. I understand the underarm hair removal process is quicker. American Laser offers ice packs and has this new laser with a cooling feature, which lessens the pain considerably.

To answer your original question, most of the hair is gone but in my case..the face, I will need to use another form of removal to get rid of the remaining blonde/grey hairs that the laser cannot pick up. I also understand, hair growth on the face is hormonal and the hair growth is also associated with continued hormonal changes..but you are looking at the underarms....

S.,
I have had about 7 treatments at Ideal Image. My husband ogt me the lifetime package (totalling to 10 treatments) and I have seen a remarkable difference. I'm told that the hair will not grow back. I'm skeptical, but optimistic. I'm getting my bikini line and underarms, and see a dramatic difference. I havent needed to shave but to just touch up the remaining areas that need to be killed. I suggest this treatment thus far.... we'll see a year or so after the treatments stop to see if it holds, but I pray so since we paid ALOT for this!

Hi S.,

I am the Director of 360 MedSpa in Southlake where we do quite a bit of laser hair removal so I can answer this for you honestly. Results do vary from person to person so any place that tells you they guarantee total hair removal for good is just trying to take your money. We are big on setting realistic expectations and then delivering even more than was promised, not less. So we like to tell people that the number of treatments varies and permanency varies. If you get pregnant, undergo hormonal shifts, start hormone therapy or if for some unknown reason your body decides it wants to, you can grow a little hair back when LHR has been performed. It will never go back to its pre-laser state though. So you can definately expect to have a significant reduction in your hair growth and in the best case total removal, but permanency can't really be guaranteed by anyone. You may have a few hairs pop up over time. I can tell you though that reputable places like us will offer you maintanence treatments at a fraction of the cost of your original package to keep customer satisfaction high. Having had it done myself on my legs, bikini line and underams I LOVE not having to shave everyday! I think its a great investments, especially when we have better things to do like take care of our precious babies. :)

Let me know if I can help you any further.

I'm doing Smooth Solutions now and have only had 1 treatment, but here's what they told me that I hadn't heard before... You MUST go to all 6 sessions, otherwise the follicle doesn't completely die and can regrow itself (usually after a 2 year period). Also, they really stress whether your sun exposure has been consisitent in the areas you're doing. I don't know why this is, but it seems to be pretty darn important. Since the treatment is 6 sessions long and drawn out over practically a year, I'm tanning just to make sure I stay consistent.

Good luck!

I have had laser hair removal done in my underarms, legs and bikini......all I can say is that 2 weeks back I went on a beach vaca and packed a bunch of disposable razors, well I was thrilled to realize that I didnt need to use any of them for the entire 10 days I was there. I have had 5-6 treatments per area, and I barely shave my legs and bikini once a month now. The laser can catch hair according to the hair growth cycle. So there will be some strays. I highly reccommend rejuve medspa in addison, they are the official med-spa for the dallas cowboys cheerleaders. They have a pain free lasers, which is amazing, coz I have used the other kind as well. You can check them out at rejuvemedspa.com

Hope this helps,
