Lakeside Montessori in the Colony

I'm seeking opinions on the Montessori program at Lakeside Montessori in The Colony. In particular, are the teachers nice, and are the kids learning to read, write, etc.?

What can I do next?

It is a beautiful school but we and many of our friends did not have a good experience. It has such an institutional feeling to it, our kids were never happy there and cried everytime we dropped them off. We have been at the Peanut Gallery for about a year now and we love it. It is a warm and freindly environment, the teachers are amazing. My kids really enjoy going to school there. Good luck it is such a hard choice.

My son has been going there for over a year and loves it. His teacher is very nurturing and has really helped him come out of his shell (he is shy). He will be going to kindergarten in the fall and he already is reading and working on addition. I will probably end up sending my daughter there when she is a little older. Good Luck!

My son didn't go to this on but he did attend a montessori. Most of them let you watch before or after your child is there. The mistake I made was I listened to the mother's that never really was there to watch and plus they have been there years. I would just pop in and watch for hours and not just my son's class but others and to see the treatment of the kids. I was shocked that some of the kids got hit on the hand and behind. The teacher would handle them like rag dolls and drag, yank and yell. I was shocked to see that. I say it happenning with my son and I thought maybe I was imagining and being over protective but when I started talking to other mothers(new) they saw the same thing. And she said she said something to the teacher and now the child is getting worst treatment from the teacher. I pulled my son out due to us traveling but will not go back there. Another thing is that there was only 1 main certified montessori teacher and the others were just regular ladies with no experience. I have to say my son went for 2 months and he learned alot. I love montessori, esp. for little ones that are busy. I hope this helps.

I had a friend whose kids went there. They also had bad experiences with it. I know several times she would be very late to work because they did not have enough teachers for the kids. She would stay until they had enough coverage. Also, she had told me that she had run into a mom that was dropping her kids off and had found a child (I think she was 3)walking down the sidewalk there towards the street. Apparently while one of the teachers was taking out the trash the little girl got out unnoticed.
My friend immediately took her 2 kids (3 and 1) out of the school and also put them into the Peanut Gallery. They seem to love it there. Good luck in finding the right place for your little one.

Both my children go there and we have NEVER had a negative experience. Everything from the facility to the teachers is wonderful. My daughter is going into their private kindergarten this fall and I am so excited. She is such a good reader ALREADY! Both my kids have learned so much self dicipline and have very good manners because of their program. Everytime Im there I see little two year olds walking in line to the computer lab with their little hands behind their backs. SO CUTE!! You can't get into the school without a code to unlock the door so it's very secure!

Mamasource rules! You know I love Lakeside and Emmy does also =).
