Know of Any Outodoor Wading Pools or Community Pools in the Twin Cities?

Coming from a small town, we spent many summers at the community pool. I remember all the moms at the wading pool with their little ones. I am jealous all of my favorite parks don't seem to have one. Recommendations? We live in New Brighton but would drive a bit for a fun afternoon or morning in the water with my 18 mo. old daughter.

Thanks!

Hi M.,

I've found that most of the community pools are rather old, although I haven't visited the one near you in St. Anthony. I prefer to take my kids to lake Elmo Park Reserve. There's a large man-made swimming hole with sand bottom and a special area just for toddlers. My kids love going there! It costs $5/car or you can get state park pass for the year. I don't know the website, but it should be an easy internet search. Have a great summer!

There's a relatively new kid pool near St. Paul that I love. The pool is zero to 3ft with fountains and stuff and a high fence all the way around and shade! I'm in St. Paul and can't remember the name of it, but it's just on the Mpls side of the river off of Ford Parkway (I guess it would be 46th on that side of the bridge)near Lock and Dam #1. It's a free pool and quite lovely.

Rosebrook Park in Roseville was always our favorite. It is hidden away a bit on the southwest corner of Snelling Ave. and County Road C. It is small enough for people to feel like they can chat with each other and kids bring toys to all share.

Love the sprinkler one in St. Louis Park but it was too long of a drive to make it a regular outing. It is also a lot bigger and more impersonal.

Roseville has one at the Rosebrook Park (near Rosedale Mall). Here's a link to a google map.

Check out the Minneapolis parks - many of them have great wading pools, and they are all free. Our favorite is the Wabun pool at Minnehaha Park. Here's a link to look for pools: http://www.minneapolisparks.org/default.asp?PageID=978&am.... Also, check out www.playtimeplanit.com for other fun ideas of things to do with your kids. It's a site created by a local mom made up of ideas from other moms.

For just a basic wading pool with a playground nearby, there is Waite Park in NE Minneapolis--not too far from New Brighton. Go south on Silver Lake Road to 33rd Ave. NE. Go west to--I believe it's Arthur St. NE. You'll see Waite Park on the corner. Turn right there. You'll see the playground. The wading pool is right by the playground.

When my kids were littler, we went here a lot.

The best nearest you in Jim Lupient Waterpark.

My kids love it there. There are life guards on duty too. It starts out super shallow with spraying water fountains, and gets deeper until at one end there are waterslides and climbing things. Super fun place for all ages.

There is one in Robbinsdale we've taken our kiddos to.
