So What Happened?™

Ladies you guys are phenomenal in your suggestions. I think i am going to try weight watchers. I am 5'5 and weigh about 135 lbs; i would like to lose the 15 by my baby's first b-day since i was around 128 when i was pregnant with her.
One great suggestion by a mom was to get exercise buddies---anyone want to workout with me?? I live in locust grove and have great hills in my subdvsn. I just need someone to motivate me and if i had a few moms to join me i know i could do it!!

contrary to popular belief there is no substitute for exercise. Eating better is a great start but you have to have some kind of exercise..Yes there are pills that claim to help with weight loss but they all say for best results use with diet and exercise. It may take a little time to find an exercise program that you enjoy doing. I have been through a lot of them but have found one that I love. With diet exercise you should have no problem losing 15 lbs by May.. :)

A good multi vitamin and a B complex. Eat a healthy breakfast, cut out soda, and invest in a bike trailer or a jogging stroller (don't have to be the most expensive either) and get out of the house. I dropped 10lbs in less than a month just cutting out the soada alone!!

Good luck!

A.,

Diet pills will speed heart rate because they pretty much all contain ephedra or some counterpart... If you read the book that accompanies Alli, you'll laugh -- if you did the stuff in the book WITHOUT Alli, you'd lose weight. It's all about portions and exercise. I, too, have a pretty big appetite -- and I do love food. Still, the trick is to just put on your plate what looks to be a good meal and resist the temptation to get seconds. Also, no snacking. That said, if you can do six small meals in a day (graze) instead of three big ones, you keep your metabolism going faster for longer. And concentrate on high protein and "good" carbs.

Also, if you start your meal by first drinking a full glass of water, that should help you to get a full/satisfied feeling. And exercise is key. The trick to losing weight is to burn off more calories than you take in. The very best way to do that is diet and exercise. (and I don't mean "go on a diet". I mean eat good-for-you food in moderation and move.)

Good luck!

The doctor told me that "Alli" or whatever it is called that is out on the market now does not speed up you heart rate. The down thing is that a good many people get diarrhea from it. I tend to have a spastic colon so I don't need to add something extra like that in my life. Good luck.

Alli also cause very loose stools and, for me, aggravated my anemia. Be very careful with Alli. You do NOT have to eat a ton of fat to have loose stools with this product! I was on an extremely low fat diet and still had them!

Weight Watchers worked for me. 17 pounds in one month and I did it all online. :)

I think all the pills that really worked will speed your heart rate, try to eat healthy meals every 3 hours, small portion, more protein and less carbs, this will boost your metabolism. Do some aerobics exercises. I'm doing the same thing. It's working great.

Hi, A.. I know it is tempting to try to go the fastest route to weight loss. The only true way to lose the weight and keep it off is lifestyle change - healthy eating combined with regular exercise. And not only will you lose your 15 lbs but you will be a role model of health to you child and hopefully live a more active and long life together with your family.

I recommend a fitness program that you do not do alone. Group support is amazing and makes it more FUN! If it is fun you are more likely to stick with it. My passion is Stroller Strides so you can work out with moms and keep your baby with you. www.strollerstrides.net/charleston (Disclosure - I am the owner of the Charleston program but I started out as new mom with 20 lbs to lose. Joined the program. Loved it. Ended up buying it and becoming passionate about health and fitness!) If you prefer a gym, join with a friend so you can help support each other. If you want a free choice, walk outside in your neighborhood. Just dont do it alone. You will find excuses not to go. Get a friend and keep each other accountable. Set a weekly schedule and follow it! It is always more fun with 2 or more and you are more likely to stick with it! YOU CAN DO IT!

Someone else recommended you journal your food at FitDay.com. That site is great and FREE.

Weight Watchers is a great program b/c it teaches you healthy nutrition choices and portion control and is not a diet that you do to lose weight and then are done with. It is a lifestyle change. LEAN Mommy, a book by Lisa Druxman, is also about lifestyle change and it helps you figure out the why's behind when and what you eat so you can start to change your mindset around eating (ie eating for comfort or out of loneliness, etc).

I do not know how much you weigh, only that you want to lose 15 lbs. If 15 will take you to your healthy or ideal weight then truthfully the last pounds are tough and take time. Might not be realistic by May in a healthy way. If you are very overweight and want to lost 15 to feel better that can be done a little faster. Ever watch the Biggest Loser? Great show! They are very overweight and can lose big pounds each week. It is not so fast with women who are not obese but just want to slim down. I just want you to be sure you are realistic about your timeframe for losing weight. You dont want to get disappointed if it doesnt fly off 10 lbs in one week, you know? For example, to lose my extra 20 lbs after my son was born I started working out in Jan (he was 3 months old) and was down to my size and weight goal by September. So 9 months to lose 20 pounds. Be sure to set realistic goals and know that YOU CAN DO IT!

So get a buddy. Set your fitness goals TOGETHER. Work on portion control and healthy choices (dont even let the junk in the house). YOU CAN DO IT!
