DH and I are going to California the week between Christmas and New Years to visit his family but I also want to take my girls ages 11,6 and 2 to either Knott's Berry or Legoland as part of their Christmas present. But the problem is I am not sure which one will be more fun for all the kids! Any recommendations, suggestions, etc please let me know I know I need to decide soon!

What can I do next?

Hi S.
We have been to both and because you have an 11 year old I would say go the Knotts. They have things to do for all ages. Legoland is more for the 5 and 2 year old. We went last summer and my 11 year old was bored to death at Legoland. Hope you all have lots of fun!

Because of the ages of the youngest ones, definitely LegoLand! And the oldest will also enjoy it. The two oldest will be able to do everything there (unlike Knott's Berry Farm) and the youngest will be able to do just about everything, too!

Legoland is much more laid-back and young-kid friendly.

My family just went to Legoland in October (6 kids - ages 12 - 18months). We had a blast! My 3 year old was tall enough for a lot of rides - even a roller coaster. It is a very clean and friendly park. The roller coasters were great for my 12 year old. She also enjoyed being tall enough to ride with her younger siblings on rides. They also have a ride like the Buzz Lightyear disney ride which the kids loved. They have a fun splash playground area for all ages - bring swimsuits. They just opened a new aquarium - SeaLife that was fun to see. We've never been to Knotts before. They don't check your strollers for food/drinks. So, we packed lunches and saved money on food. I would highly recommend it. The younger ones will be so excited and your older one can still be a kid.

Legoland has amazing Lego Buldings. It is fun for little kids but not really for older, unless they really like legos. I have never been to Knott's Berry Farm, but I hear great things about it!!

For their ages, I would recommend Legoland. It's really great for the younger ones and my son who was 13 at the time enjoyed it as well. Admission is for a two day pass and my kids had no trouble filling up both days (We thought they would get bored the second day). If you haven't been, I would highly recommend it. It is really amazing. No thrill rides but lots of fun.

We have been to both parks within the past few years with my step-daughter who was 3 (Knott's) and 4 (Legoland). Knott's Berry farm has Snoopy land, which is geared toward young children. There are a few rides that the little ones can go on with M or D. There are a lot of other rollercoasters your 11 year old will be able to go on without the little ones. Legoland is much more geared for younger children. It was great for my step-daughter last year. If you think you might go to both over time, maybe do Legoland now while they are young and while you 11 year old may be more patient and accomodating. Knott's wil be more fun for the little ones when they are older and your soon to be teenager will put up less fuss!

I guess I am going to differ with the rest of the crowd. We took our kids there last year and my son was 2 1/2. He was only tall enough for 3 rides. I think there were actually 4 he could ride, but one was closed. Never been to Knott's Berry Farm so I can't comment on that. Lego Land would probably be fine, just don't get your hopes up that your little one will be able to go on a ton of rides.

Your two younger kids will LOVE Legoland, but there are only a couple of rides for your 11 year old, unless she is a Lego lover and loves to look and build. My 6 and 2 year old boys went twice this year and went on all the rides. Nothing is scary or dark.

Knott's Berry Farm has a little kid area of rides which my son loved when he was 4 which is the only time we went with him and he liked the train ride. There was plenty for him to do. I think there would be more that your 11 year old would like.
