Knife Drawer or Magnetic Knife Holder?

I can no longer stand having my knives in blocks on the counter....I can easily transform my junk drawer into a knife drawer, or I could buy a magnetic knife holder. I may need both, as I do have two knife blocks.

Does anyone have either, and how does it work for you?

What can I do next?

I do keep all my knives and sharpes in one drawer. Everybody knows where they are and can find one when it's needed. It does get a bit tangled at times so a knife block could be more handy and you might miss it. I also keep my scissors and kabobs and peelers in that drawer.

It might work for some people but a magnetic strip just never seemed like a safe way to store knives to me - especially with a child around.
I keep my knives/peelers in a drawer.
I have a cutlery organizer in the drawer and the long knives are separate from the short knives, the serrated knives separate from the non-serrated.
When our son was young our old house had drawers and I had the knives in a middle drawer.
The pulls on the drawers were handles that I could slide a rod down through all of them and keep our son from opening that drawer with the sharp stuff in it.

I have a magnetic holder and i often knock the knives off. I use it only for short knives because the larger knives just didn't stay on it. I like having knives visible and easy to get. A drawer requires an extra step or to to get the knives. I found a clear acylic holder that screws onto the side of the lower cabinet next to the stove. It is about 2" wide and has slots for the knives. There is a clear shield which covers the blades. I love it.

Google wall mounted storage block to see this. Mine is acrylic and all I found on Internet were metal or wood.

We have a knife drawer.
And also everything "sharp" goes in the drawer. And its fine.
I just don't like having knives out in the open on the counters, even if my kids are older and know better.

My kids are 9 & 6 and I have had a magnetic knife strip for about a year now. I've never had a problem or worry that my kids will get into it. My daughter (6 year old) would need a stool to reach it as it is against a far wall next to the stove. My son actually uses the knives to cut up apples and fruit and knows how to use them. I love the knife strip better than the block. Easy to find the knife you're looking for and it's very handy to grab.

Although the magnetic knife holder is convenient, I think the knife drawer could be just as convenient without having knives on the wall. I just think it looks a little scary. I wouldn't have wanted them on the counter either. I've never liked those knife blocks. I actually have a jar with all my knives. I know the handles so I point them down into the jar and am able to identify them. I keep it in the cupboard where my spices are. It's convenient for me. Good luck honey!

Knife block or drawer, with blade protectors on your good knives. I don't recommend a magnetic holder, because if anyone bumps it or brushes against it, knives can come down. My mother had a knife come down and go through her foot. (I'm NOT making this up!) Not fun.
