Kitty Deterrent

I've used chili powder, it seemed to work fairly well and doesn't hurt them, they just don't like the taste/smell of it. Same with most things that have a citrus scent. Maybe you could even mix some essential oil drops with water and spray it around and on the plants. Neither of those will do any harm to the plants or the kitties. ;)

A. - the solution is MOTH BALLS ( you buy them at Fred Meyer - or a Hard Ware Store. They are old-fashioned lumps of -- stuff -- that smell odd and keep moths and other critters out of cedar chests--- you grandmother may have used them--- ( do check with your pediatricians' nurse - but I'm sure you could bury a few where the cats have been messing-- Cats HATE the smell---. If there is just a small area where the cats are doing their jobs- you can also take chicken wire - and lay it on the surface of the ground- then cover it with cedar bark - the cats WANT to dig their messes in- and since they cant' with the wire down- they will go somewhere else - just don't want them going elsewhere in YOUR yard. If you see them-- a squirt gun with water will startle and upset them enough to (perhaps) convince them that this particular potty is permanently closed.

Just wanted to add that old fashioned moth balls are highly poisonous! They shouldn't be left around kids or animals- if left in your yard, you might find dead animals later.

My neighbors had that problem and they went to pet smart.. and bought an alarm to keep the kitty away.. It was something not too lound for humans but the cats hated it.

I have used the grounds from Starbucks to deter neighborhood kitties from invading my gardens. Apparently they do not like the stuff on their feet and the smell. I have been using it for a few years and its great.. Plus it fertilizes your garden beds as well. I actually found out about it while waiting in line at Starbucks one early morning. A lady was coming by to pick up the free grounds (that is another nicety about this method.. its free) and she was talking about how great it is in repelling cats.. Its been a lifesaver..
