Kindergarten - Mansfield,TX
My daughter who is in kindergarten comes home daily with marker/crayon on her clothes, hands, face neck. How do I approach the teacher about this? The markings sometimes do not come out of her clothes. I guess I am just fed up with her coming home several times a week looking like she been in an marker war. On another note at home she uses markers/crayons and we never have an issue with markings everywhere. Thanks for any input.

Since it is not an issue at home, I would email the teacher and let her know your concern. Be sure to let her know that it isn't a problem at home. Ask the teacher if she can help correct the problem, and ask if the teacher if she has any suggestions for you and your daughter. That way you don't sound like you are attacking the teacher. I would certainly be quite irritated if my son were coming home often with markers on his clothes. On a side note, my son is also in kindergarten in Mansfield. :-)

She should be old enough to tell you how it's happening. I would start there, ask her about it and ask her how she could keep it from happening. If that doesn't work, go to the teacher, don't let it fester!

Often kids will hide under desks or behind a book shelf and color on themselves, cut their hair, cut their clothes, etc. I would start by talking to your child. Also, another student could be doing this to her and I know you would want to put a stop to that!!! At 5 or 6, I am sure your daughter knows how she is getting so messy. Then, if you need to, call the teacher.

i would just take an old shirt of yours that you dont care about getting marked up and send it with her to put on over the outfit that she wears each day and send a note saying that you would like it to be put over her clothing each day because there are marker stains that are not coming out of her clothes. that will at least help keep the marker from getting on her clothes, and maybe the teacher will take the hint! lol.
