So I really, really, really want another baby (this will be #4) my hubby is on board but this is the hard part. I still nurse my 12 month old 2 times a day morning and at nap time. And I still havne't gotten my period back. I'm going crazy! I have no idea if I've ovualted or are about to ovulate or if I'm not going to ovulate for a while still because of the nursing. So I will shamlessly admit that I take 1 or 2 pregnancy test a week hopeing to get a positive! I just took one today and it was another negative. I just hate not having a cycle to go off of. Yes I know these last 2 kids will be close in age but it's just good timing for me to get pregnant now, we both want another, and my hubby works for the government so maternity is cover %100. So why not right? anyways. I guess I'm just looking for some kind words or maybe just some ideas on figuring out if I will ovulate soon. There are those ovulationg kits.....maybe I should buy one to see if I'm even ovulating yet?

What can I do next?

Which one do you want more? To nurse, or to conceive?

I think you have to make up your mind here. Wean the one year old if you want to start ovulating.

And stop stressing yourself out by taking all these pregnancy tests. The more you stress, the harder it is to get pregnant.

(That's why so many women get pregnant when they are on vacation - they are relaxing!)

Good luck with this!

have you thought about stopping nursing? That would hopefully get your body back on track. I would aslo schedule an appt with your OB to learn about the mechanics of "if" you can get pregnant with no period and if so what are the stats. I do think that 1-2 tests a week is a little excessive and not to mention expensive-esp if it it pretty unlikely that you can conceive now.

The you don't ovulate while nursing is an evil wives tail that has caused many pregnancies. You start ovulating pretty quickly it is the period that doesn't always return. Anyway, I think it would be cheaper in the long run if you get an ovulation predictor kit.

If you have sex too often just trying to strike it rich chances are you don't have good swimmers or enough of them when you are actually ovulating, ya know?

Two out of my three babies were conceived while nursing the last baby. Well not at EXACTLY the same TIME, but you know what I mean! :)

Sure, try an ovulation kit.

Or just have a lot of Really Good Sex Everyday!

Good Luck and Have fun!

The other thing that you can do is just have sex every other ... or every 3rd day. That should cover you if you don't want to take a test and have it be 'regulated'. If you're having sex on that kind of schedule.... then you should hit either close enough before or soon enough after you ovulate to increase your chances of becoming pregnant.

Oh - and hubs should stop the "individual" attention.... if you know what I mean. That will increase your chances as well.

Good Luck!

You can take your temp daily with one of the old school thermometers before you get out of bed in the moring. When your temp goes up an entire degree you are ovulating. More than likly if you have never started yet you may not ovulate till you stop nursing.

Good luck and God Bless!

I suggest you appreciate what you have, enjoy the baby and life you have right now. Nurse for another few months and then get your baby on solids, walking, talking, and perhaps even start potty training before you start on the next one.

If you just can't wait, go see your doc and get a professional, objective opinion. You must remember time is one your side.

When I was TTC, I used ovulation predictors and pregnancy tests from this sight....

Buy a bunch of ovulation predictors at once and they are not expensive. (Really cheap if you use your own plastic cup for urine collection and get the dip strips instead of midstream.)

Were I you, I would start charting your Basal Body Temperature in the morning and taking an OPT in the afternoon. Chart your results. If after 35 days you don't evidence of ovulation, you can pretty much bet that your body just isn't ready for another pregnancy. It is then up to you what to do with that info. Sometimes it can help you calm down and feel better to have something you can *do*. And you'd spend more on diapers for an additional kid for one month than the test strips will cost. :-)

There are ovulation kits that you can get over the counter, which work (my friend used them to find out when she was ovulating), but I think you should speak to your OB/GYN and see what he/she says first.

Good luck!
