I carry a little thing of baby powder to the beach, boat and pool. After the boys swim, i put alittle on the inner thighs to prevent that rash. I also take that mesh lining out of each suit.

The front of their thighs only, is an odd place.

Are they dragging their legs over the edge of the pool when they're pulling themselves out?

I wonder if it is the elastic that is causing the problem.

You could try a little A&D ointment before going in. Or let them swim nude...? How old are your little ones?

it could be the chlorine in the pool or that their skin is sensitive to wet clothes on them. my daughter rashes after being in a pool and i give her a bath as soon as shes out of the pool that helps a lot.

May be it is the chlorine not the shorts. If you have your own pool see what other alternatives instead of chlorine. Some people are senstive to it.

Maybe try rubbing a bit of vaseline on them where the rash happens before getting in the water? Have you tried shorts that aren't made for swimming? I know my son would wear his soccer shorts (they are more comfy, he says) and they are fine for swimming, too.

Are they wearing the longer swim shorts? You might want to get some a little longer and looser on the legs or get some a little shorter and more form fitting.
Wet seams can really rub little one's skin raw. You can try to find some swim shorts that are fitted more like underwear and that should alleviate the problem. Their legs rubbing together with the seams is just a recipe for disaster sometimes.

Best wishes!

Tear out the mesh! My kids are sensitive to it too. Have them wear undies under the bathing suit, and get rid of that scratchy mesh stuff!

My youngest had this problem also. The key is to get him a spandex bathing suit (biker shorts).
