Kids Just Wanna Swim the Day Away! What Do You Recommend?
Hi everyone,
I've been checking on fun things to do with the kiddies and my neice and nephew have expressed they just want to go swimming!!
What are some good one's around the area? I was looking at the Aquatic Park in The Colony, it looks like a lot of FUN and have an indoor and shaded pool area from I can tell. This will help keep the kids safe from too much sun exposure since they both have problems with skin rashes and the heat. Any other one's you mom's have checked out and found to be really fun with indoor or heated pool amenities that you can recommend? Preferrably a place that I can take them to several times a week that won't break the bank, I will have 4 kids with me over the summer.
Thanks!

Oak POint in Plano is great. There are two pools- one indoors and one outdoors. Both have slides and various other play structures to accomodate all ages. Last summer it was $3 admission for all day. You are allowed to bring in coolers, so we packed all of our lunches and snacks.

Don't know where you live but Richardson's Arapaho Pool is fun. Find yourself a good sunscreen with both UVA and UVB protection. They don't all have it and that is important. If possible go to the pool at 4pm after the worst of the suns rays. Re-apply sunscreen often. Going to the pool in the evening and bringing a picnic dinner can be fun. Enjoy!

Our guide mostly features activities that are in Lewisville, Flower Mound, Highland Village and the surrounding areas, so the link below will only include aquatic centers from the Colony east, but there are pictures, rates, and amenities listed, so you can get a good idea of they may be worth the drive for a change of pace.

Personally, my kids (8 & 10) love Sun Valley Pool in Lewisville. Old Town Lewisville is for younger kids. Flower Mound CAC has added some new shade structures and water features this season.
Good luck! Sounds like a fun summer!

New as of last year, the Flower Mound activity center has an indoor pool and outdoor pool. I don't know when/if they have open swim time inside, but I bet they do. They give lessons there and had movie nights once a week. BUT the outdoor pool is one of the best I've seen. It has the shallowest walk in area with bubbly areas for the youngest and a great little and bigger slide for the older (2-8?) with lots of water guns, fountains, dumping buckets, etc. They have a "lazy river" and a bigger slide for the bigger kids. They also have a drop in child care/play area for the younger kids and I don't know if it is just for when you're doing other things there or if it could be used for a few hours of shopping. Then they have a game room for the bigger kids. (Consider working in some library time thrown in there weekly.)

We live in Lewisville and I can vouch for the Sun Valley Pool and the FlowerMound CAC as well. There is also the natatorium in Denton which is a lot of fun as well and not too pricey. The website is http://www.dentonwaterworks.com/.
