Kids Halloween Party

I'm throwing a small Halloween party for about 10 kids that are between 2 and 4. I would like to come up with some Halloween theme food ideas so I'm asking if you all know of any. I've got cupcakes taking care of. My plan was to try and come up with a few items that would also pass for lunch. Thanks in advance!!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thank you all so much for your input! We had a great time at the party! I did the mummy hot dogs which were a huge hit. And I cut out pizza dough with the help of cookie cutters and made little witch, pumpkin and bat pizzas. I took a small pumpkin cookie cutter and cut out cheese shaped pumkins. And severed grapes also. I did the punch with sierra mist, fruit punch and OJ...which was yummy! And we had festive little cupcakes. And a friend of mine brought a sandwich tray for the adults.

Hi D.,
I remember seeing some halloween recipes in my parenting magazine. Go to parenting.com and do a search for halloween recipes and it will bring them up.

There is so much you can do even at that age. We did a long sandwich and cut it then placed the pieces in an s shape. At one end you put 2 olives for eyes and cut a piece of cheese for the toung. Instant snake. You can also add plastic bugs or those spider rings to just about anything and let the kids keep the rings after they eat. HAve chicken wings, but call them bat wings. They are a perfect portion size for that age and you don't need to really do anything. Just a few thoughts.

mini carrots = "witches fingers" to dip in
ranch dressing = "witches brew"
grapes (off the stem)= eye of newt (or any kind of eyeball)

Also a fun game for all ages is the "Mummy Race" where you break up into teams of 3 players. One is the "mummy" and the other two wrap the mummy in toilet paper. The fist team to finish wins!

Someone used chicken nuggets for fingers once-- but at that age, I don't think it matters. You can look on the internet, but most of it is desserts or really gross looking stuff children that age might not eat. I would serve normal foods and save the creative stuff for the dessert.

Orange rice krispy treats w/some kind of black decoration (licorice?) or shape them like little pumpkins.

D., if you can get ahold of some dry ice, you can make a lime sherbert and ginger ale punch, putting the dry ice in it so that it bubbles and smokes. Kids love that "caldron" effect!

Have fun at your party!

I did one of these when my son was in kindergarten. We had PB&J sanwiches that I cut with a large pumpkin shape cookie cutter. Mummy finger with blood suace...which are hot dogs wrapped in pillscury crescent rolls with ketchup of course! I did eyeball cookie but they didn't go over as well. I also had some regular food too. I still have the magazines I used to get ideas. If you message me I could type up some of the things out tof there. Lots of cool ideas for kids and adults!

I just threw a Halloween party for 11 year olds and I got my food ideas from the boxtops website at www.boxtops.com but all of my food was simple and yummy and would be great for your age kids too.
They are as follows:

Mummy Dogs--which are hot dogs wrapped up in thin cut slices of cresent roll dough. Leave a space for where the face would be. Bake as directed on cresent roll package. You can even make dots of mustard on face for eyes, nose, mouth after baking if you like. Very cute!

Mummy Toes--wrap cocktail weennie with an almond slice on top to look like a "toenail" in a thin slice of cresent roll dough. Bake as directed on cresent roll dough package. Looks like a toe and too cute!

Witches Brew Punch: Add 1 frozen can of fruit punch, 1 frozen can of orange juice and add 2 two-liters of Sierra Mist or Sprite together. Serve. Very good and actually just a great anytime punch recipe!!

Sugar Cookies: Get the Pilsbury Sugar Cookie Dough that is meant for rolling and cutting ccokies from. Get some cheap dollar store Halloween cookie cutters or just shape them like long bones with 2 rounded heads on each end. Sprinkle white white or black or whatever color sprinkles! Bake as directed on package.

Pillsbury (or Tollhouse) has some yummy choch chip ready to bake cookies with orange and black choc chips that are yummy and easy to make too.

All my kids raved about my food and I'm sure your's will too!!
Enjoy the time you spend with the kids--it's so important to their lives and yours...:)
Good luck and have fun!
