My son starts montessori on Wednesday and I need to label some of his clothes, jackets and shoes. Any recommendations on a type of label? I'd just take a sharpie to the tags inside but he's made me cut them out of most of his shirts etc because they bother him.

What can I do next?

Mabels Labels are the best. http://www.mabel.ca/ We have used them now for about 3 years and love them. The are the tag mates not the iron on kind. My daughter has a sweater that she wore as well as her little sister and it has probably been washed about 100 times and the tag mate still looks brand new.

Mom4Life also carries a product called Totally Tagless (by Applied Labels), which is like getting the iron-on sheet, printing your child's name and ironing into the items that need labeling (except for shoes).

The same maker also has a sticker variation, and you can purchase an optional "shoe-shield" to use in shoes.

www.stuckonyou.biz - I've used both their iron-on (almost impossible to remove) and their stick on clothing labels (LOVE them) as you can either iron them or use them as adhesive stickers on the tags of clothing.

I actually write with a Sharpie either directly on the clothes, or on a piece of Scotch tape. The tape sticks well enough for a day at school- it might come off in the washer, but at least the clothes aren't ruined.

You could try Mabel's Labels : http://www.mabel.ca/
Or... I think a little while ago while at Joann Fabrics, I saw that they had labels that you could buy to personalize a craft that you had made... I think they said something like "Handmade by ____" or "Made with love by ____" so if you don't care what they SAY you could just put your son's name on them and sew them or iron-on them right on his clothes/jackets/etc...

Good luck!

I used Mabel's Labels with my daughter and loved them. I decided to try something different for my son and just ordered some from Stuck on You. I wish I had gone with Mabel's.

http://www.namebubbles.com I just ordered some. You can put them thru the laundry, dish washer, etc. and they still stick. And they're cute too!

I've used these. I've stuck them directly to clothing. There's less expensive iron on labels, but I'm lazy. (just being honest) This company makes nice labels . The other company I've used is

http://www.stuckonyou.biz/
I've also just done the sharpie, get the fine point one and you can write much smaller.

You can just use sharpie on the inside of the neckband. The neckband fabric is thick enough that it shouldn't bleed through.

you can get iron on transfer sheets to run through your printer, you could just print his name off and iron them in.
