Kid Shampoo

Try Johnson & Johnson's no more tangles line. My son has wavy hair and it seems to help it lay better and is more moisturizing than the regular kids stuff.

We have a 4 year old girl with long hair and a 23 month old boy. We use Suave Shampoo with Conditioner, tear free for both of them. My daughter has occassional tangles, but her hair is almost to her waist, my son never has tangles. We do use the Suave Tangle Spray on my daughter at times.

I'd recommend it, plus it smells really yummy!

Arbonne Baby Care has a hair and body wash that you use just a drop of (so it goes a long way), it has no artificial fragrance or animal products (so they won't be allergic or get cradle cap), and it gets it so clean and fresh smelling! They also sell self-adjusting (instead of normal to dry or normal to oily) shampoos and conditioner--a little dab'll do ya'. It keeps the tangles out of my daoughters hair that otherwise is prone to rat's nest in like five minutes, but she can go two days with bouncy squeaky hair with Arbonne.

Hello I have 3 girls and the only thing I've found that works extremely well is Suave Conditioning Shampoo (tear free). They like the strawberry fragrance. It makes their hair so manageable.

I love Suave 3 in one - but I also get their detangler spray. It is excellent for getting rid of the morning rattiness.

We have had good luck with the Suave for kids that has a built in conditioner. I had the same problem with the Johnson and Johnson and other baby washes.

I am the mom of two bi-racial girls 3 and 1, they have soft super curly hair that "rats" easily. I use moisturizing shampoo and conditioner leaving the conditioner on for a few minutes and then i comb through a moisturizing leave in conditioner. (Johnsons and Johnsons makes one)I use Cheer Chic, but boys would probably not like that.

Hi J.! I know that this may seem weird to you, but it really does help.

Both my boys are very blonde with fine hair. After bathtime I always put lotion in their hair as well. Not a whole lot, but just a little really helps. It helps control the fuzzies and makes it less tangly and it's much easier than the second step of conditioner during bathtime.

I still use tear-free shampoo without conditioner on my 3 year old and find the Suave detangling spray very helpful. The claim on the bottle that says it eliminates knots and bed-head is quite accurate.

My son is now 11, and he still uses the Suave 2 in 1 Shampoo with Conditioner. His hair smells great (watermelon), and it's shiny. His hair is short and straight, so if your son's is longer or curly you might have a different result. For us, it works beautifully and is easy on the budget!

We use "Super Shiny" conditioner by Burt's Bees for our kids and love it. You can get it at Walgreens and Whole Foods. It works wonders and smells yummy too.

I have 3 girls with long hair and we use Sauve Smoothers and after their bath I spray my leave in conditioner and it helps a lot. We also use the detangler in their hair for big knots and it works great.

J&J makes a baby conditioner and they also make shampoo with added conditioners, both work great. Also the spray detangler works great too, all found in the same section as the other baby products.

I have used Suave's line for children on all four of my kids, although my oldest two have now transitioned to their shampoo for Men...they feel so big. For the younger ones, Suave Smoothies is great. It's a two-in-one shampoo and conditioner. I also use their Conditioner and Spray Detangler. These have worked really well for my kids and are inexpensive, as well.

Okay, all great ideas, but maybe this is a different perspective for you. I am a cancer survivor. The fastest growing number of cancer victims groups are kids and lymphoma. For kids, it's all environmentally related, according to solid research. 98% of baby body/hair washes on the market have a known carcinogen in them, most of them have more than one. They are almost all linked back to petroleum products being used in the product itself or manufacturing process.

Don't take my word for it, but daily exposure to toxins, processed foods, etc. is making our kids sick. Please check out environmental working group's articles or MSNBC.com under 'paradioxane'.

I have found a couple of product lines that do not have carcinogens in them and can spare you the label reading if you email me back.

I didn't read all the replies, but I will agree with most others that said Suave is good. They also have a 3 in 1, which I think is great, that is shampoo, conditioner, AND body wash. For me, it's a lot easier with just the one bottle to worry about. I'm glad you posted this, too, because I have been using Johnson & Johnson on my one year old daughter, and her hair in the mornings is always a mess. I think I will try her brother's Suave and see if that makes a difference!

Hi J., I am a hairdresser, retired now but for licensed for 38 yrs. Johnson & Johnson is one of the harshes shampoos the make even though it's tear free.
We use to use it to strip medication out of clients hair befor perms or color to get the best color or curl.
We use suave on my grandchildren and it is tear free and has conditioner. It comes in wonderful scents. Good luck. Hope it helps.

I put about a 1/2 teaspoon of leave-in conditioner in a spray bottle with about 8 ounces of water. In the morning I spray her hair down and brush the tangles out.

We use an adult leave-in conditioner after the bath. I've heard Head & Shoulders conditioner works great, too, but the leave-in works for us.

I use the Loreal Kids Line.

I was always told to just add a spray in conditioner. The huggies brand is great. You can use it on dry and wet hair. Hope this helps.

Johnson and Johnson and other manufacturers make baby shampoo that has a condition added- so no extra conditioning. You might try those, or perhaps a small amount of leave in conditioner when he gets out of the bath. Not sure, but he is going to bed with wet hair... this could be why too.
