Kid Friendly Salon in Berlin,CT Area

My son is getting close to needing his first haircut. Can anyone recommend a good salon that is used to and friendly for kids' haircuts? I live in East Berlin, so the Berlin area would be best, but Meriden or Cromwell or Middletown would be workable.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I ended up going to Shearz, as it was very convenient to get to. I loved it! There were two chairs for older kids that had GameCubes and TVs to play, and two race car seats for younger kids, as well as a castle play area in the front waiting room. Valerie (the owner)was great with my little guy, had a treasure box for kids after their haircuts and even gave him a little certificate with a baggie for his first lock of hair. She also has a Mom's card that you can have stamped, and every 10th haircut is free. Thanks for all the recomendations, moms!

Hi A. -
Have you ever heard of Kid's Cuts in Plainville? They are right on Route 10. They are great with kids - their chairs have straps (just like a high chair) and are shaped like a truck (or something that you can steer). The girls there have a lot of patience - give them a try! Here's the info:

Hi A., not sure if Southington is too far for you, but there is a Snip-Its in town. I took my son there for his first haircut. Their website is www.snipits.com It's an awesome place, and only about 15 min from you.

Thank you for asking this question. I have been to snip-its in southington a few times because of a lack of knowing where else to go. While it is a great atmosphere, I have always felt like we were being rushed - even on weekdays. As a result, I always have to do touch-ups later.

A.,
I use Cutt Loose on Route 5 in Meriden, not far from the Berlin Tpke., and love them; I won't go anywhere else. My sons all go there as well. They love kids, are reasonably priced, and do a fantastic job; I use Stephanie and my sons use Melissa. If you go there tell them I told you to call. We send everyone we know there, they really are that good.
Let me know what you think.
Hugs,
T.

Hi A.,
My name is C. and I live in Wolcott, CT. My hair dresser
is AWESOME with kids. She works out of a salon in Waterbury. I do not know if that is too far for you. She is very reasonable. My son(who is now 6 yrs old) won't go to get his hair cut by anyone else. She did his 1st hair cut and he never cried and still doesn't cry. She works with them especially when they move. His hair cut came out great. Let me know if you want her name and number. Good luck with your 2nd child too. C.

I've heard that there is an adorable kids' salon on the Silas Dean highway in Rocky Hill. (Shearz - ###-###-####). My own daughter hasn't needed her hair cut yet, but I have several friends that go there and love it. It's in the same building as Dunkin Donuts. It's about 10 minutes from Berlin. There is also a place in West Harford Center on LaSalle street. If you went there, you could link it with a trip to Maggie Moos. (:

Hi A.....I'm a hairdresser who works in South Windsor, CT and I can tell you that the chain, "ScissorKids" does a great job with children. I know there is one in Glastonbury, CT and their number is ###-###-####. I would think they could tell you if they have a shop in your area. The entire salon is geared towards small children. The chairs look like airplanes, cars or animals. They allow the child to choose a video (along with Mom or Dad) that they can watch while they are getting their hair cut....great distraction! The staff are used to kids and are friendly. The waiting room is safe, bright and fun for siblings to play in. I'd definitely give them a call in Glastonbury and see if they can tell you where the closest "ScissorKids" is!! Good Luck...Kate :)
