Kid Friendly Meals

I'm taking a meal to a family that just had a recent addition. There are already 3 kids in the family, and I'm not sure what kids like to eat (my daughter eats a lot of table food, but I don't think she has reached that picky stage yet). I feel like all my recipes are too spicy or unappealing for kids! Any suggestions that the kids and parents would enjoy?

Spaghetti would be a big hit I think. My kids LOVE it! Just add some fresh bread and salad and you have a whole meal. You might also want to add a kid friendly dessert like chocolate chip cookies or cupcakes.

When I had my baby last year the wonderful people at my church brought us dinner for two weeks. The favorite meal that my older three loved was "make your own pizzas". The person brought over mini boboli pizza crusts, sauce, cheese, and she had cut up a bunch of healthy toppings in little disposable containers. She also incuded a bag of salad and dressing...it was a big hit because the kids got to make their pizzas however they wanted.

You will probably want to find out if mom is planning on nursing her baby...if she is, you will not want to add things like onions or broccoli, because those can cause stomach upsets for her baby. You may also want to find out if anyone in the family has food allergies or strong dis/likes. Generally speaking, she may have already told the person who is coordinating their meals about these issues.

One thing my husband and I like to make for a meal is chicken spaghetti in the crockpot...it's very easy to make, and we take the crockpot to the house, so they can reheat the food as needed. You can add a bag of mixed salad greens and/or bread to go with it, and voila! the whole meal is ready!

You can email me at ____@____.com if you want to know how to do it! It's really easy.

Check out either www.kraftfoods.com or www.recipezaar.com Both are fantastic and you can search for "kid friendly" recipes. My kids will eat anything, so I cannot think of anything specific for picky eaters. Hope that helps.

You don't know how much she is going to appreciate you doing this for her, friends like you are a blessing!!! When I recently had a bad surgery, (lost on the table), and came home very worn out a dear friend made chicken alfredo, bread and salad then brought it over for my family. It was very sweet of her and my three kids loved it. Contact me if you want her simple inexpensive recipe.

When I've taken meals to friends with a new baby I always ask if there are any food allergies as well as things they don't care for. Chicken tetrazini with a green salad or fruit salad is always a good choice:

1-2 lbs. cooked, diced chicken
1-2 cans of cr. of mushroom soup
1/2 cup of ck. broth (or more if the casserole seems dry)
1 can peas
1 6oz. jar mushrooms
12 oz. shredded cheddar cheese
8 oz. spaghetti (cooked and drained)
Shredded Parmesan cheese to sprinkle on top

Mix all ingredients, except the parmesan cheese. Place in a 13x9 pyrex dish. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Cook at 400 for 30 minutes.
