Ketchup Stain

Have you tried club soda? Years ago, we'd take our little (now grown-up) kids to our favorite local spaghetti restaurant, and every time they'd get more spaghetti-tomato sauce on them than in them. The owners of the restaurant suggested putting club soda on the stains, and a good part of the time it worked. I don't know why! But you have to try it before you put the item in the dryer. The dryer heat sets the stain.

There is a general-purpose cleaning product sold at Dollar Tree called "LA's Totally Awesome". It isn't specifically for laundry, but it will remove just about any stain. My mother used it to get dried black motor oil residue our of my brother's jeans!

There are stain specific solutions in the laundry isle at your store that I've heard good things about. Also I have bleached white parts of otherwise colored garments by taking a q-tip and dipping it into the bleach (yes straight bleach) and dabbing the spot. Rinse with cold water immediately and wash as normal. It will weaken the spot some over time, but it will take the stain out.

Make a "paste" with baking soda and vinegar, then apply it to the stain with an old toothbrush, working it in. Let it set for just a bit, then wash. I also put a little baking soda in the drum of the washer when washing, along with a little vinegar in the fabric softener part of my washer. My son wears white uniform shirts to school and comes home with ketchup stains at least a couple of days every week. Some have made their way through the washer/dryer without being treated, and this always gets them out - even the shirts that have gone through the dryer. Good luck!

Wet the fabric and and rub the bar on it. It won't get sudsy, so don't worry about that. Just work the soap into the fabric. Wash as usual.
