I am in the alternative health field. I could say a million things, but you are right. Diet changes will help. It wont be easy, but you have to do it. You will have to change how you think and read labels and read books. It's work, but it is worth it.

I also can share a dvd with you of other people that have been helped.

do u have a filter on your shower? sometimes water can be harsh..before i bought my house i lived in an apt in Echo Park and my skin was dry and my hair was breaking..my cat was also suffering...so i put a filter on the shower and only gave my cat filtered water...he totally healed and my hair and skin went back to normal..well actually got better than it was before..
u can buy a filter for your shower at Home Depot..

also maybe have him take fish oil..and maybe drink aloe vera juice..heals from the inside.

I'm not familiar with KP specifically but have done a lot of different things for my son's eczema. If you think it's similar, let me know and I'll tell you what we've tried.

I'm not sure if any of the previous posters have direct experience with keratosis pilaris. I have keratosis pilaris, which is genetically transmitted, as I think you know but many others do not. (My paternal grandfather had it, too.) Just as diet cannot cure Down Syndrome, a genetic congenital disorder, diet cannot cure keratosis pilaris. I first saw signs of it (on my upper arms) around the time I turned 11. As you know, it can't be prevented or cured, at least at this point in history. Some of my dermatologists over the years have told me to moisturize the areas of my skin that are affected. I have not found any treatment, prescribed or over-the-counter, or behavior that makes any difference in my condition. Diet does not seem to play a role in the severity of my condition. I am allergic to dust and cat and dog dander. I can get allergy shots or use nasal sprays or take tablets to successfully treat my allergies, but none of these medications affects keratosis pilaris in me.

I'm sorry that I can't cure or successfully treat this disease, even though the medical community calls it benign. (I used to cover my upper arms whenever possible because I got tired of people staring and pointing at me and trying to keep their kids away from me because they feared that their kids might get a dread disease from me just by being near me!) Please let me know if you find anything that reduces the severity of the symptoms of keratosis pilaris.
