I'm thinking of switching from our PPO to Kaiser. I'd appreciate all opinions and any doctor recommendations.

Thanks Ladies!

I would say only go with them if you do not already have your own physician because you must use them for everything

I would never use Kaiser. I have no good stories to tell you about them. Long story short. Kaiser killed my girlfriend's baby, they have admitted fault, and she is settling a lawsuit with them. Kaiser disgusts me.

I have had Kaiser for a few years now. We got it because you could get preggo right away, no waiting period. For the ob/gyn side i have been very pleased. I have liked every ob and i have seen them all. Now that we have our daughter we have not found a pedo that we like there. I like the centers, they have everything together: pharmacy, lab, xray, adult med, peds....it is very conveinant. you can find other docs that arent part of the centers which is what we will do eventually for a pedo doc. So i guess i am saying there are pros and cons. Good luck : )

I had them for several years and have only just switched. I had no other option due to no insurance at work. Please know you will have good doctors but they are severely limited to what they can do for you. Most tests/recommendations will be 10 years out of date. (IE-industry standard for the last about 10 years for PAP tests is to use liquid based preps- Kaiser still uses slides which is the 'old' way). There is no way to know this unless you have some medical knowledge. I am a nurse so felt I could at least keep on top of what I was not able to get. ;). Otherwise it is great- if you are sick they will see you same day, no questions or hassle which is nice if you are normal/healthy. Just don't expect care on the cutting edge! Good luck. I used the Glenlake Kaiser and liked my PCP who was Karen Helland.

Last year, I switched from Blue Cross/ Blue Shield because of the dramatic price increases. I chose KP based on reputation, acceptance by my existing providers, and their rates. Switching saved me approximately $300 per month (for the whole family). So far, so good. We haven't really used it very much, but the couple of times we have, there have been no problems. I have called their customer service a few times with questions about my plan and have been pleased with the service on the phone as well. Sorry I couldn't provide more detailed information; perhaps someone here will have more in depth experience with KP. Good luck!

I have a friend that drives a bus she was offered Kaiser. She took it and a few years later she changed only because she felt the doctors were so out dated on so much and the test they'd order or not order. So need less to say she changed to another co they offered spent more money and is happier now. She finally got her blood pressure under control with a new doctor and said she didn't want to go back to Kaiser.

Myself I've never had them and when I drove bus I made a choice to have Blue cross Blue shield of Ga. i was happy with it never really had a problem, didn't save as much money as I could have making the choice not to have Kaiser but I was happy.
