A friend of mine just found out that she is pregnant and is looking for cute ideas on how to tell her husband. She isn't on this site and asked me to put out the request for her. What are some of the ways you told your husbands?

What can I do next?

A friend of mine dressed up a teddy bear in a onesie & had it sitting on their bed when her husband came home from work. She put a bottle and binky in the hands and put a bib on that said, "I love you Daddy". A little cheesy, but he really enjoyed it (and the things came into use later). The best thing of all is that he's a Harley Davidson rider & the onesie and bib were tie-dyed Harley clothing.

To tell their children, they waited for awhile & then had a big cookie decorated with "Congrats" and put the ultrasound photos all over balloons when they came home from school. It was a celebration.

THe funniest way I have seen is a friend of mine kept a bun in her toaster oven until her husband finally asked "what's with the bun in the oven?" And she replied "How did you know?"

Hopefully, her husband isn't dense and wouldn't get it for 6 months!

Well this wasn't for my husband, but for my parents who flew in for vacation. I wrapped up a bib that said "someone new to love" (she can get a plain white bib and use fabric paint or the puffy paint to write something like it on it) a pair of booties, a rattle and a baby bottle in a shirt box and wrapped it up real nice and gave it to them as a present. She could also include the pregnancy test or a picture of it! She could make dinner reservations at a nice restaurant and give him his "present". I also like the idea of having a video camera ready to record his reaction!

Hey there. I am a huge fan of a website called Snapfish.com, and they actually had a good idea for poping big news! She could take a picture of herself holding a sign saying "Here comes baby!" or something like that, and turn it into a puzzle, so he has to put it together to figure it out. Anything would be better than I did, I was so shocked I just handed my husband the pregnancy test! Tell her good luck.

There's a couple websites out there that sell t-shirts for dad's to be...www.2chix.com and www.bellablumaternity.com, that I know of. She could give him a t-shirt and let him figure it out. Also, the bellablu website has a pair of undies that say "mama to be" on them...that would be a cute surprise.

I heard about making a dinner with baby chickens (cornish hens) and baby carrots and asking him if he notices a theme. Another person I know handed him a box that had booties inside. I never did anything special, but do remember those two things :)

I love the bun in the oven idea. I might use that one next time!
For our parents, we did this- made a nice dinner, and followed it up with a cake. On the cake we had written "_e'_e _a_in_ a _a_y" Then we made them fill it in- like Wheel Of Fortune. It tool the longest time for them to figure out what letters were missing ("We're having a baby"), but when they did, they were all so suprised. It was a fun, memorable way to tell them.

Well, this was fun for me... with all three of my children I did different things. For my oldest I put a letter from my soon to be child to his daddy in his briefcase! It took three days for him to see it, so I was going crazy! With my second son I made (ordered) dinner... baby carrots, baby back ribs, baby greens, etc. just in case he was dense about the whole thing I had someone make a congrats on new baby cake! lol...
My third child I was coaching my oldest little league team and the night before opening ceromonies I couldn't sleep so I drove 20 miles to a 24 hr store and bought a test... I put that test in my son's baseball gear so he found it and asked his dad what it was!

Tell your friend she should have fun with it... buy pink and blue streamers with stork ballons... anything that fits into their life together, but is still out of the ordinary enough for him to catch on!

K.,
Here a couple of cute ideas I found on the internet for my friend:

Bun in the oven by eHow Friend
A cousin of mine was pregnant with her second child. While her husband was away at work, she put a hot dog bun in the oven. When he got home, she told him to "check on dinner in the oven". He opened the oven, and said "Hun, there's only a bun in the oven." It took a moment to settle in, but he figured it out eventually!

Moving in by eHow Friend
Fill the daddy-to-be's drawer with newborn baby diapers. You can include a note that says "Make room daddy... I'm moving in!" That way the daddy-to-be can help plan the announcement for the grandparents-to-be (after he catches his breath)! This is how I am planning on telling my husband the great news!

Best of luck!

A lot of my friends wrapped up the positive pregnancy test (doesn't have to be the original... he'll never know the difference!) and gave it to him. When he opens it up, there's not a thing that needs to be said!

Whatever she does, make sure she sets up a video camera in the room close enough to hear his reaction! How precious for the baby to be able to later see her dad's exact reaction when he found out! I did that with my second daughter and wished I had with my first.

One cute and fun way would be a scavenger hunt!
Clues can start with a note on the front door when he comes home saying, "Look in the refigerator". Maybe there is a cold drink there with a note, "Look in the silverware drawer" which leads him somewhere else.
Clue finding can be very creative to popping balloons to get more clues, looking up words in the dictionary and finding another clue there, even the first clue being a cassette tape taped to the front door with "play me". Then the cassette can explain this is a scavenger hunt and where the first clue is.
In the end, there can be a baby bottle or something.

Another thing, this is what my sister in law did, was wrote her husband a note or something and put it in his work bag. I don't like that one because I want to be there to see the reaction!!

Anyway, I hope you get some really neat ideas and WOW good for her that she can hold out that long!

I know this may not work for your friend due to the timing, but it may spark some ideas... it just happened to be Father's Day weekend and I picked up a couple cards to give to our fathers. I had him read them both before I addressed them. Little did he know that one of the cards was really for him! I wished him a happy first father's day and showed him the home pregnancy test I had taken earlier that day!

A friend of mine took a picture of the pregnancy test and hung it on the bathroom mirror. Another took a picture of the test and glued to the inside of a congratulatory card.

Is your friend near a birthday or special anniversary? I gave my husband a gift from the baby and a picture of the first ultrasound around 6 weeks.

I would choose a cozy time when they relaxing and cuddling and then ask him what he would like to name the baby. This will get him thinking and he should catch on to the idea.

I really like the bun in the oven idea! Is there an older child? I would dress the older child in an "I'm a big sister/brother" tee shirt...see if he notices!
