Hey everyone, I'm with Junior League of Plano and I'm trying to find mama-related forums where I could pass information about upcoming community events. We're set up on Facebook but disappointingly few people visit us there. I've just begun Twitter but, as a mother, I never go there to find my information. I always go to Dallas Child so I'm definitely looking into that. But where else? When you're looking for fun things to do with your children where do you visit online? We've got a great American Girl fashion show coming up in the fall - my girls go each year. But it almost seems that if you don't know someone in the league, you miss out finding about the model application deadlines that fall in the summer. Can you tech savvy mamas point me to other online gather spots? Thanks a bunch!

Hi A.!

I have two ideas for you. One is a website that I love called "Moms Out Loud" (www.momsoutloud.com). It is a local resource for moms in the DFW, and they send out e-mails to their site members about events in the area that would be fun for kids! Great resource.

My other idea is more about social networking. Have you thought about compiling an e-mail mailing list for people in the community that work with local families? For instance, I work for Cultural Care Au Pair in the Frisco/Plano/Carrollton area, so I am constantly in contact with a large network of families who are hosting our au pairs for their childcare. I also have a website and Google Group for my families where I post information about events in the area. I know that there are other people working with metroplex families like me that would be happy to forward community announcements to their contacts.

Sincerely,

K. Besly

Hi A.,
There is a great new site for women and children in DFW. It is www.Metroplex4Children.com. I am a sales manager for the company, Kirace Enterprises. I would be happy to give you a complimentary listing on the site so you can see how it works. (the normal annual price is $1,995)

The site just launched in April, but we are getting great hits and page views. We knew it would work, but we too are amazed at our actual results.....I think you will be too.

Kirace advertising in the Metroplex4Women web directory includes the following:

*Business listing in one of the fastest growing directories targeting the needs of women and Children in
your local area
*A listing & link to your business website
*Keywords for top search engine Placement (Google, Yahoo & MSN)
*Business profile and other company information
*Article submissions for search engine optimization
*Contact info for your business
*Event submission for your store or community
*Your business banner ad rotating on all Kirace pages
*Upload a video of your business
*Mapquest map to your business
*Your business logo displaying with your listing
*Add and manage coupons to attract shoppers to your business
*Kirace members can clip and print coupons to bring to your business
*Kirace members can bookmark your business listing so that they can easily return
and keep up with your postings and coupons
*Multiple search methods to your coupons and business listings
*Visitor tracking and profile statistics
*Coupon views and clip counts
*Personal service by a Kirace representative
*Marketing Campaigns to keep web traffic flowing to your listing

As I said I would like to give you a complimentary trial so you can moniter your results.

My daughter modeled in the American Girl fashion show for two years and hopefully my granddaughter will have the opportunity when she is old enough. My daughter loved it.

Email me your contact information and I will get back with you and work out all the details
