Hi Everyone!

My child was suffering with chronic stomach aches. I took him to the doctor the other day and they have put him on some meds for constipation and acid reflux. So far it really seems to be working. He still isn't going to the bathroom like he should but I am sure its just a matter of time before the meds kick in. Anyway..A friend of mine suggested Juice Plus for him. I have heard that its a great product...and that its just a scam MLM. I have tried reading up on it...but find one website where they say..its the next best thing to veggies and fruits...then on the next website...its a scam. I don't know what to believe. If anyone could get me some insight on this product that would be great.

Thanks!

J.

HI J., I've been taking Juice Plus for over a year and I haven't been sick once while everyone around me has been getting colds and flu. FYI - I am NOT a Juice Plus rep, I have no vested interest in the company, just a fan of the product.

Warmly,

It is expensive, but it is worth it. Juice Plus just fills all the nutrient voids I can't/don't get from my diet. I would recommend it if you can afford it.

Hi J.,

I commend you for asking for more info!
I was just thinking the other day how greatful I am about my Juice Plus experience. I started taking JP because it made sense to me (my mom had just experienced a health crisis)so I started taking it.

I took JP through my pregnancy (prenatals made me sick), it wasn't until I stopped nursing my son that I started paying attention to WHY I was taking JP. You see when I stopped nursing him, he kept getting sick with a constant running nose. So at 11 months I bought the gummies and started him on JP. He has been on JP for 3 1/2 years and in that time has only been to the doctor for wellness visits. That is priceless, think of all of the copays/medication dollars I have saved. I would pay $5.00 a week anyday to keep my son healthy with natural whole food!

This is when I really looked at this product seriously, do you know there is 15 YEARS of research from MAJOR Universities around the WORLD. Juice Plus is available in 23 countries around the world!

Through the Children's Research Foundation (a program where children 6-15 get JP for free in exchange for tracking there health for 1 year and up to 3 years) in one years 63% experienced less doctor visits, 55% were taking less over the counter and Rx drugs and more.....

There is so much more to know about JP. All I can say is that I am very greatful for the health and health education it has brought to our family!

If you would like to learn more you can join us on February 5 at Panera Bread 11290 S. Twenty Mile Road in Parker 6:30pm or if you just need some questions answered, please call me, I'd be more than happy to get you the info you need to make an educated decision! :)

Most people who say that nation-wide MLMs, whose products are backed w/ valid scientific evidence, are scams didn't research the products or read the requirements or cancellation proceedures of the program before signing-up.

My mom has been on J+ for almost a decade and she loves it and is completely sure of the quality of the product. And has made some money off of it. I don't know about "network" marketing, personally.

Read what's required by you (minimum monthly purchase etc.) and honestly consider if it's something you can commit to.

One comment on the statement that a flintsones vit. is just as effective as J+, I believe, is inaccurate. Bioavailability should be a big consideration when you're picking supplements, studies show that many of the most used multi-vitamin supplements in the U.S. have a bioavailablity of about 15-20%- that means your body can't use 80-85% of what your paying for and ingesting.

One of the best ways to ensure high bioavailability is to get supplements made from whole foods, which J+ is.

I would also look into homeopathic dietary suggestions to help your son- Wishing you and your family good health.

Your best bet is to get a sample of it and read the nutritional info. Go to Sunflower, Sprouts or Vitamin Cottage and get one of the people there to give you the closest match. Buying anything through a 'distributor' just means extra cost for you with no value add.

If you can get him to eat actual fruits and veggies that would be better than anything. I have even tried to puree fruits and veggies and putting them with other foods. THere is a book that is written by Jerry Seinfields wife that has great receipes. My 3 year old daughter has problems with contipation as well and we have used Benefiber and Mirolax, both work well. We have also started making sure that she has at least one fruit and/or veggie with all meals. She is now enjoying apples, oranges, and berries for snacks. It took sometime, but it is working. Good luck!

Hi J.,

I've heard the same thing -- It's great, it's not great. What I can tell you is that great or not, it's expensive! I purchased a juicer (no need to spend $300-$400 dollars on it ... mine is a Breville from BB&B for about $150) and juice my own stuff. My other suggestion would be to go to a Whole Foods or Vitamin Cottage to ask about Juice Plus and possible alternatives. Most of their staff is knowledgeable. You also can buy organic (that's important for both apples and carrots) apple/carrot juice. The combo is very effective. Also, there are superfood/green food powders you can use.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me.

I have enjoyed reading all the resonses you have been getting on Juice Plus. So many people are having great results from taking it! Yes, it does work! No, it isn't a scam. I have been on it for over 2 years and am more healthy than I have been in years. My daughter and grandson have also been on it. My daughter's second pregnancy was so much more healthy than the first one, when she didn't have JP. This time she didn't have the extreme swelling, extreme weight gain, high blood pressure, "house" rest orders and totally exhausted feelings! Healthier Mom taking Juice Plus = healthier baby!

I don't consider it expensive either. You can put a child on the Chewables for about 76 cents a day. For that price he gets the nutrients of 17 fruits, vegetables and grains every day. Try taking that 76 cents to the store and see how many fruits and vegatables you can buy.:-)

I also would not try to find another product that "does the same thing",as other products do not have the unbiased university produced research that prove it balances your immune system, protects your DNA, reduces oxidative stress and free radicals, improves your cardiovascular health, and delivers key antioxidants and phytonutrients that are absorbed by the body. Why spend any money on something that doesn't have this kind of research to back it up?

Yes, I agree that you do want your son to eat as many fresh raw fruits and vegetables as you can get him to eat, but it is a rare child that will eat the recommended 7-13 servings of a wide variety of many colors of fresh fruits and vegetables every day. Juice Plus bridges the gap between what he does eat and what he should eat.

It will help with your son's digestive problems. It is a whole food product which is much more absorbable than a vitamin pill. The main reason that this is so, is that the nutrients in whole food work together in synergy. A person doesn't just need a few vitamins and minerals, he needs them all!

"There are over 10,000 vitamins, minerals, enzymes and phytonutrients that work together in each fresh, raw fruit and vegetable. There are usually only 20-30 vitamins and minerals in a bottle of multivitamins. What if vitamin #12 can't be used by your body without enzyme #3,472, which doesn't happen to be in your bottle of vitamins. It won't be very effective, will it? So which would you rather have floating around in your son's body every day: 20-30 fragmented nutrients that someone decided to put into your bottle of multivitamins....or thousands of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and phytonutrients that occur naturally in each of the 17 fruits, vegetables and grains in Juice Plus+?" (Kelly Hayford author of If It's Not Food Don't Eat It.)

More and more physicians who have taken it upon themselves to become educated in nutrition (which by the way is not really part of their MD degrees)are recommending Juice Plus to their patients.

Dr. David Katz, of Yale University, Oprah magazine, ABC News and The New York Times is coming to Denver to speak about nutrition and health for Juice Plus on Feb. 19th. He will be speaking at the Four Points Sheraton (I25 and Hampden) at 7:00pm. I've alwayd found the information at www.quackwatch.org (or is it .com?) to be reliable and helpful. They are not selling anything and are devoted to getting evidence-based information available to the general public. Their info is usually well-cited enough for me to trust.
I got sucked into the Juice Plus sales pitch once and wondered if it would be good, but there's nothing it offers you couldn't get from an improved diet. . . . you could buy a lot of delicious berries and citrus and other fruits and veggies, even out of season, for the same or less money than Juice Plus. I'm a big believer in the whole foods philosophy of eating (your food should remember where it came from and be minimally processed) since the fiber of fruits and vegetables is one of the most important componants of it.
We have had good luck with Miralax for constipation issues--my son has an extra-long colon and needs a high-fiber diet to avoid getting backed up and having a stomachache. Miralax is over-the-counter, non-stimulant and just helps add moisture to stool to relieve constipation. It's also flavorless and easy to add to a drink (perhaps a glass of juice plus Miralax would be as helpful as Juice Plus?)
Best of luck--hope your boy starts feeling better.

Hi J.!

Juice Plus is Awesome! My family and I have been taking it for years and we wouldn't go a day without it!

I have to look into things before I take them to and I can tell you that Juice Plus is the real deal. There is scientific, published research on Juice Plus. There are a lot of other products/companies that claim they have research but they really don't. The research that is done on Juice Plus is NOT done within the company (it is done in medical centers and universities) and it is published in REAL medical journals. And because of the research backing Juice Plus we KNOW that it is doing good things in the body.

I would encourage you to give it to your son, and the rest of your family. It is only fruits and vegetables...Whole Food! You have nothing to lose, only good health to gain!

Hi J.,

I started taking Juice + last April when my doctor strongly suggested I should take some. It didn't have any affect on my body until recently. Let me explain why it took so long. My body wasn't absorbing any nutrients or minerals because in October I was diagnose with Celiac Disease. Now that I am on a Gluten Free diet and my body is absorbing nutrients and minerals, I am starting to feel a lot better. I am sure the feeling better has to do with being gluten-free as well as the Juice + vitamins that I take once daily. I don't feel I need to take them more than that because I already eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. I am considering getting them for my children, especially my one child who has recently been diagnose with Celiac Disease, so she can have the added bonus of those vitamins and minerals she may be lacking from the gluten-free diet. I don't know if this helped or not, but good luck in your endeavor.

Hi J.,
I have had the same issue, looking to find the answers on the internet. I was a skeptic and was very confused. I was introduced to Juice Plus because of my daughter who has suffered from sever eczema since she was two weeks old, she is 9 years old now. This summer, June 2010, she had a server break out, so I started giving her Juice Plus right away and today October 2010 her eczema is almost nonexistent. After seeing what it was doning for her, I started taking it for myself, (August) and so far, I feel wonderful. I was having issues with being fatigued and feeling totally exhausted all the time, needing naps everyday. I'm an aerobic instructor and personal trainer, and was working out a lot. After about two weeks of being on Juice Plus I noticed I was not needing naps and I had a lot more energy, I also noticed a big difference in my skin hair and nails.

You will find a few people who will tell you it doesn't work, for what ever reason, maybe they didn't take it consistently, maybe they didn't exercise, or eat right, or maybe they were mad at the company, I have no idea, there is one lady on here (Karen someone) who really has it out for the company, I would take her advice with a grain of salt, and try Juice Plus, find out for yourself. The proof is in the pudding. Remember you must take nutrition as nutrition, Juice Plus is whole food supplement, it takes time, it take consistency, and you must eat fruits and vegetables, it is not a replacement, it's an enhancement, a supplement.

Good Luck,
M.

I agree with Holly, probiotics are amazing! A lot less expensive and Activia is yummy or you can get it other forms at Wild Oats or a health food store, even capsules you just sprinkle in your food. I eat Activia daily. More fiber riched foods too for the constipation. Juice Plus I have heard great things about but I firmly believe if he changes his diet he can get the same rewards without the cost.
Apples are great for fiber if he isn't too into veggies.
Are they certain about the acid reflux?

Stress for children is typically a really good cause of tummy upsets, constipation, even chronic aches. I would maybe get a second opinion. Find out if there is anything else going on with him too, internally, at school, with friends to ensure it isn't anything else bothering him.
Just my two cents.

What could possibly be a scam about Juice??? Anything that has real fruits and veges in it vs. things that are manmade (vitamin supplements) is a "no brainer" to me. I would also try to make sure his diet is getting fiber in it -- whole fruits and veges. I am one that believes "you are what you eat". I don't take Juice Plus, but I think I'll look into it. We use Mona Vie (which has 19 different fruits, mainly the acai berry, and water is not the main ingredient). I always say to try something natural first before you try a drug or surgery though.

Hi J.,

Just about anything you look at on the internet will have conflicting things. If you watch the things that claim MLM scam, generally they are trying to get you into another MLM and it is just a way to draw you in. An MLM scam would require that you buy and stock lots of product. Juice Plus, plus many other reputable MLM's (Nikken, BioPro Technologies and Melaleuca are ones I have personal experience with) only have you order what you need plus you can choose to be just a consumer versus a business builder - no pressure or obligation. If you think to traditional business models, they are all like MLMs any way. Also, many companies have products or technologies that you can't get in any store and they are really incredible.

I don't represent Juice Plus, but know that it is a quality company with a great product. If you don't have a representative, I have two contacts for you.

I've been doing lots of research on water, quality of water, chronic dehydration and disease. One doctor believes that most chronic disease is caused by chronic dehydration. All fluids are not as good as a pure bioavailable water. Both constipation and acid reflux were things mentioned in the book. Fiber is also great for constipation.

I'm in the process of writing an article on water - the importance and the different water options available. Please email me if you would like to see it. Eventually, I'll post it on my website livinghealthiernow.com.

Give the body what it needs and it can do amazing things. Hydration and whole foods nutrition are critical for overall health.

Take care,
S.

Hi J.!

I have 14 month old twins that have been on the Juice Plus gummies for a couple months now and I think they're amazing. My son had constipation issues and since he started taking JP, he is completely regular. They love them and I feel completely confident in JP and that they're getting the nutrition that they need. It's almost impossible for me to get them all the fruits/veggies they need daily. Besides, my daughter refuses to eat any veggies:-) Our JP rep is a health nut and is also in the medical field and I trust her dearly.

I hope this helps! I say anything (deemed healthy of course!) is worth a try. Good luck!

With this kind of thing you have to separate the "business opportunity" from the product or service.

Generally speaking, when you read about something being a scam it's a referral to that source's opinion on direct sales or the "company" but not specifically to the product.

Now, I'm NOT a Juice Plus fan in that, I use supplements I believe to be superior, however; they (Juice Plus) have had independant studies done at Brigham Young University showing that they do indeed provide a beneficial product.

I personally prefer Shaklee products because it's been in business for over 50 years with zero FDA recalls, they have over 100 published independant peer review double-blind studies in journals such as the Journal of American Medical Association and the like. One has to understand the extremity of how this works and the process to appreciate the gravity of it all, but I assure you I wouldn't proceed with anything without well documented reliable science for which and independant lab has done their best to disprove in order to varify a claim.

Juice Plus does "hide" behind "proprietary" ingredients and processes so one can't give a thorough evaluation on their own. So...one could conclude "scam" behavior or sketchy at the least. However; simply not telling one's "secret ingredient" or "special whatever" for marketing reasons doesn't make one a con artist either.

Like I said. There have been a few studies looking at Juice Plus that seem to show authentic benefits. The product and the business are two separate animals.

If you want to look at something else with a long presence in America, with a clean track record product AND businss wise; check out Shaklee. You can use this link:http://www.shaklee.net/reginagarcia/main

In the end; Trust your judgement. Do your research. Go out to the FDA and search out the company. Do what you can, but most importantly, TRUST YOUR JUDGEMENT.

So I just read through all of your responses because I was curious and you got a lot of good answers. I currently have my son on Juice Plus and here is why. He's a little over 2 and a year ago he started getting sick with EVERYTHING. It was exhausting and I felt helpless. We did find out he has asthma that is induced by cold virus'. So that was making it worse and it the reason why they lasted so long for him. At his pediatrician's office I asked her if he was too little to start taking vitamins. She said that she only would reccommend one vitamin and that was Juice Plus. She gave me handouts and all the information that she had researched on it and the name of the distributor. She backs them up and has done her own research. She said all the other vitamins out there have chemicals in them that are not necessary. He didn't eat enough fruits and veggies and it's almost impossible to get them in a one year old thoroughout the day anyway. The cost was a little much but I was willing to do anything if I could help him out. So we started them. At first I was hesitant to give him 6 a day because just 4 made him almost too regular with his bm but as time went on and his body adjusted, he did just great. He stopped catching everything that we came in contact with and even started growing a little better. Since birth he was never on the charts for his weight and at 2 years he was finally in the 6th percentile.
So with that said, I am a believer in them and do not think it's a scam. The cost is a little much but it's been worth it. I would look into finding a product that is similar at a whole foods store. It will provide the same benefit without the cost. I think I may look into it to save some money as well! I wish you the best and hope your boy starts feeling better soon!

I asked our pediatrician's advice on Juice Plus after going to a Juice Plus infomercial. He said he researched it a lot and his opinion is that you get the same nutrients from a multi vitamin. He said that your body can't distinguish the properties of say, an A vitamin from Juice Plus any differently from an A vitamin from a multi vitamin. He advised me not to spend the extra money on Juice Plus and just get a Flintstones multi vitamin.

Hi!
There is a whole food version of gummy vitamins at Whole Foods called Yummi Bears. They are allergen and gluten free. It's about $13 for a month's supply. They taste more like a gummy bear than JP+'s version. That being said, I am a huge JP+ believer. Their veggie gummies do have a strong smell though. Your son is old enough to reason with about that though. JP+ also has a great drink mix in chocolate or vanilla and it's full of B vitamins in whole food form. Along with the fruits and veggies, JP+ also has two whole grains in the mix.

If you want to contact someone about the JP+, you can e-mail Dee Yugovich. She'll be able to answer any question you may have. ____@____.com

Let me start by saying it (like many other very legitimate home businesses) is not a scam. Juice Plus has a great line of products. I am not a distributor so I do not know all of the specifics. I do know that they do a lot of research and I have used their products not only for myself, children and pet and feel better, have more energy and our family gets next to none of the bugs in the air.

I encourage you to check them out, MLM by the way is a not so often used negative term. Juice plus is a Direct Sales Company and belongs to a fantastic national organization, Direct Selling Association as well as DSWA (a women's organization of direct sellers). Both companies scrutinize their members closely to allow membership only to high quality companies.

Our country was founded on private entrepreneurship and I recommend you do more research and hope you can find the solutions needed for your child.

I think that Juice Plus has a lot of good in it. I believe that vitamins and minerals that come from food sources are better assimilated by our bodies. I do think that there might be a less expensive option at the health food store but if you want to do Juice Plus, give it a try. Another option is a green drink powder from the health food store mixed in apple juice. It can be very tasty if he can get past the color! One thing I would watch out for with the Juice Plus is the gummies. They have a lot of corn syrup which is in so many things and while it may be ok in small doses, it is in everything and messes with appetites, etc. Good luck!

I haven't actually tried it yet, but our pediatrician's PA-C recommended Juice Plus when I asked about giving my son vitamins and expressed concern that his diet isn't that well-rounded.

You can definitely get the same (or likely better) from fresh fruits & vegetables but if you have concerns about the nutrients he's getting, they seem like a good supplement to try. You might also make sure he's getting enough magnesium...it can help with constipation.

Hey J., This is my experience with Juice Plus. My now 6 year old daughter had always had constipation issues ever since she was born. She was always in pain when she had a bm. She would go for 1 week to 1.5 weeks without having one, and then when she had a bm it was the consistancy of modeling clay and would always clog the toilet or not even go down(I don't know how something so large would come out of her. I always felt bad for her we tried everthing. Then finally last year I finally decided to try juice plus, I figured what the heck it was worth a shot, nothing eles worked. I am happy to report that just after 1 month on juice plus, she was not having pain everytime she had a bm, yes they are still large but at a normal consistancy and she has a bm on a regular schedule. I pretty sure it is the juice plus that made a difference and not her "just growing out of it" because if we don't give her it on a regular basis she tends to not have bm regularly and they can get hard again. I hope this helps. I have been very satisfied with the results of juice plus, and I can't believe I waited so long to try it. She really was in a bad place before, it was so hard to watch her go through the pain and not be able to help her.
